April 29, 2009 (Los Angeles) Nicholas Clayton, President of
Kor Hotel Management, a growing global presence in luxury hospitality,
is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Michael Lorenz as Vice
President of Sales and Michael Doneff as Vice President of Marketing for
the company. Lorenz will supervise all hospitality sales activities and
Doneff all marketing and branding activities for the company's entire portfolio,
which includes the Viceroy, Tides and Urban Retreats collections of flagged
properties, ongoing new builds and contract-managed hotels. Responsibilities
will also include oversight of e-commerce developments and national sales.
Together, Michael Lorenz and Michael Doneff bring more than 40 years
of sales and marketing experience working with top-tier hotel, hospitality
and lifestyle companies, and we anticipate their being vital assets as
Kor continues to build a strong presence in familiar regions and new markets,
said Clayton in making the joint announcement.
Michael Lorenz:
Lorenz joins Kor with an extensive career cultivated at prestigious
hospitality firms such as Ritz-Carlton and Hyatt. Most recently he was
Vice President of Sales & Marketing for IMI Living, where he oversaw
and managed real estate pre-sales for five of IMIs luxury Caribbean projects,
as well as managed each propertys sales and marketing budget and successfully
launched their openings.
Prior to his tenure with IMI, he worked with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel
Company for seven years, initially based in Miami as Director of Sales
& Marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun. His subsequent promotion
to Area Director of Sales & Marketing for the Caribbean & Mexico
signaled the companys recognition of his impressive skills. In this new
capacity, he managed an area-sales team of 19, oversaw regional revenue
management and public relations, and was wholly responsible for marketing
and advertising of all properties in the region.
Previously, Lorenz was with Williams Hospitality for six years, starting
out as National Sales Manager for El San Juan Hotel & Casino. In San
Juan, he was responsible for Mid-Atlantic and Southeast markets and surpassed
revenue goals each year of tenure. Promotions followed, first to Associate
Director of Sales for El Conquistador Resort & Country Club in Puerto
Rico, where he worked both on property and from the Miami sales office.
Lorenz cut his teeth as a Sales Manager at Hyatt Regency Atlanta, focusing
on local corporate and government markets, and was soon promoted to National
Sales Manager for Hyatt Regency Woodfield, where he developed the hotels
corporate market in the Midwest.
Originally from Chicago, Lorenz holds a Bachelors degree in Economics
from the University of Northern Illinois.
Michael Doneff:
Doneff joins Kor with broad-based experience in strategic marketing
and communications in the high-end lifestyle and hospitality arena, which
will serve him well as he oversees branding and marketing for the hotel
groups growing collection of properties. Most recently he was Vice President
Marketing for SBE in Los Angeles, where he orchestrated the successful
launches and marketing for the companys acclaimed restaurants such as
Katsuya and XIV by Michael Mina, nightclubs including Hyde Lounge and Foxtail,
and the recently-opened SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills. While at
SBE, Doneff oversaw all aspects of the companys marketing and communications
initiatives, including corporate and brand messaging, producing videos
and collateral, and directing strategic partnerships, public relations,
events and advertising.
Previously, Doneff spent 14 years as Executive Vice President of Susan
Magrino Agency in New York. As co-founder of the respected public relations,
marketing and event firm, Doneff was integral to the agencys management
and strategic growth while spearheading brand development services and
communications campaigns for prestigious clients including The Blackstone
Groups LXR Luxury Resorts, One&Only Resorts, the repositioning of
Club Med, and the launch of W Hotels for Starwood Hotels & Resorts
Worldwide.
Doneff has long been involved in marketing and communications for top-flight
hospitality and lifestyle brands including The Peninsula Hotels, Sandy
Lane, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Island Outpost, chefs Alain Ducasse
and Charlie Trotter, the 2006 Michelin Guide to New York City, Dom Pérignon,
Red Envelope, W Magazine, and books by Dominick Dunne, John Pawson and
Albert Watson. Along the way he has produced several gala opening events
and has been behind many successful strategic partnerships.
