We look at every property we operate to maximize profits in all phases of the economic cycle, said Murray Dow, president of The Dow Hotel Company.  With the upgrades and brand change, we will be able to offer our guests the best in upscale amenities and benefits, which will lead to higher satisfaction and allow us to attract a wide cross-section of both business and leisure travelers.    We have in-depth experience working with the Hilton Family of brands and believe this change will further enhance our portfolio of first-class, full-service hotels.

The hotel rooms are designed in Texas style décor with marble and granite bathrooms, rain forest showers and Jacuzzi tubs with spa jets.  As part of the upgrade program, all 227 rooms and suites have been furnished with 32-inch LCD flat screen televisions and the Hilton Serenity Bed®.  Other new amenities include the Hilton Serenity Bath Collection, featuring the exclusive Crabtree & Evelyn line of La Source® bath products; a Cuisinart® dual-cup, single brew coffeemaker and Lavazza® coffee; the easy-to-set Hilton Family alarm clock with MP3 player connectivity; and high-speed Internet access.

The hotel will enhance its amenities and upscale hotel and spa services further to include:

  • Enhancing the spa with new amenities and ungraded packages, as well as increasing the diversity of spa treatment options, such as body detoxification treatments
  • Expanding the menu at the hotels main restaurant, SunSpot, to appeal to a wider range of business and leisure travelers
  • Adding to the ambience of the pool area
  • Introducing the Hilton Fitness by PreCor® fitness center to include cardio stations with personal TV screens and headphones, free weights, water, courtesy towels and additional room to stretch
This is another great hotel/spa to add to our growing collection, said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president brand management, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. This will be the fifth Hilton Family-branded hotel operated by Dow, and we expect the same success that they have enjoyed at our four other branded properties.

Located at 9800 Westover Hills Boulevard, the full-service resort and spa is near Sea World, and is a short driving distance from the Alamo, downtown San Antonio and the famous Riverwalk.  The immediate area also boasts two world-class golf resorts -- the Golf Club of Texas and Arthur Hills Hill Country Golf Course -- with preferred tee times and special rates for hotel guests.  The property features over 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, capable of handling groups from 10 to 300 people.  The property features three outdoor heated pools and a state-of-the-art business center.  The resort includes the Hill Country Spa and two on-site dining choices, SunSpot and The Hill Country Bar, as well as a poolside bar.

We incorporate a lot of the outdoors into our guest experience, said Steve Dennis, general manager.  The hotel is in a relaxing setting, but only minutes from all the shopping and nightlife available in downtown San Antonio.  We also offer three outdoor pools, including a lap pool for adults and a large swimming pool for families.  We have fire pits scattered through the outdoor area for small to mid-size gatherings.  The hotel is perfectly designed for meetings, social events and family get-aways.

For families, the property shows movies poolside during the summer vacation season.  During rainy weather, nearby Sea World brings over a petting zoo to entertain children and their parents.
