Dominik Stamm Named General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Saigon
in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam February 26, 2009 - Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has appointed Dominik Stamm general manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon.

Prior to joining the Mövenpick group, Stamm had spent 9 years with Amari Hotels & Resorts. His most recent posting was general manager of the Amari Orchid Resort & Tower in Pattaya, Thailand, where he was instrumental in opening the Ocean Tower, the resorts 5-star extension. He also oversaw creation and theming of the propertys hip, signature restaurant Mantra Restaurant & Bar.

Stamm, a Swiss national, holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Hospitality & Tourism Management from Bournemouth University in the U.K., and a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management from IHTTI, Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, the Swiss chain with more than 90 hotels existing or under construction worldwide, made Ho Chi Minh Citys five-star accommodation scene in July 2008, when it assumed management of the former Omni Hotel Saigon, which opened in 1994 as the citys inaugural international-standard hotel. It was immediately renamed the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts inherited a storied address. During the Vietnam War, the site was headquarters of Americas Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), according to a 1994 South Morning China Post report. In the early 90s, Hong Kongs Marco Polo Hotel Group razed what was left of the edifice and constructed a gleaming hotel of a standard never before seen in a city taking its first baby steps toward a market economy.

Today, the seven-storey property near the international airport and not far from downtown has committed to revitalising not just the hotel itself but the greater Phu Nhuan District, an area fast becoming one of Ho Chi Minh Citys most desirable locales for business travellers and holiday-makers alike.

From an exhibition centre nearby, to all the office and retail space being developed up and down its streets, Phu Nhuan is booming, said Stamm. With the amenities this property already offers, and those Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will add, were confident this will remain a favourite stopover for any kind of visitor.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, an upscale hotel management company with 12,000 employees, is represented through over 90 hotels existing or under construction in 26 countries with a concentration in its core markets of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The international hotel group with roots in Switzerland is expanding and has a stated objective of increasing its hotel portfolio to 100 by the year 2010. With two hotel types, business and conference hotels, as well as holiday resorts, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has clearly positioned itself in the 4 and 5-star segment. The hotel group stands for uncompromising product and service quality and is owned by Mövenpick Holding (66.7%) and the Kingdom Group (33.3%).
