HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. (Nov. 18, 2008) After a $25 million makeover and recent appointments to their executive team that include a General Manager, Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage, the iconic Sheraton Universal welcomes two additional executives to its sales team: Brian Jago as Director of Marketing and Sales and Dan Sierka as Director of Sales.

Both professionals bring at least 20 years experience to their positions.  Their leadership will be instrumental in guiding the legendary hotel into its 40th year of serving as the base camp for Hollywoods entertainers and offering a warm, welcoming experience for business and leisure guests.

We are confident that our newly appointed sales directors will revitalize and increase clientele now that the hotel has re-launched, says DH&R Senior Vice President Mark Hickey. Brian and Dan bring track records that have only entailed improvement and success over extensive careers.

As Director of Marketing and Sales, Jago will oversee a team of associates in the areas of marketing and national, group and leisure sales.  In addition to implementing sales strategies that drive occupancy, Jago will supervise the hotels re-branding after its first major renovation since 1978.  Jago returns to the Los Angeles market after holding similar posts at Pacific Palms Resort, Royal Palm Miami Beach, and Ojai Valley Inn. At Royal Palm Miami Beach, he oversaw a $25 million renovation to its 471 rooms and public spaces.

Prior, Jago earned his reputation for revitalizing sales at Santa Monica properties including Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar, as well as St. Regis Los Angeles and Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Century City, Calif.  In the wake of 9/11, while positioned at Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar, he increased sales and built a successful team, producing more than $250,000 in revenues during the three-month period after 9/11, shattering all expectation.

In Sierkas role as Director of Sales, he will oversee national group and leisure sales.  He supervises a sales staff which, in 2007, produced nearly $7 million in room revenue.  His responsibilities include generating new accounts and developing relationships with key organizations such as conventions and visitor bureaus throughout the country.

At Sierkas previous position as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Aspire, he was responsible for overseeing and developing the sales, marketing, public relations, sales software and new website design for clients to operate more efficiently.  He was also pivotal in their goals of training, optimizing revenues and increasing profitability for their customers.  Prior, Sierka managed sales and marketing teams at The Boulders Resort in Boulder, Colo., Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix and Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz, where he exceeded sales targets for 16 consecutive years and inspired his colleagues to achieve record personal performances.
