Daytona Beach, Fla. � September 24, 2008 - The Hotel and
Lodging Association of Volusia County honored its own September 12 with
a dinner and awards ceremony at The Shores Resort & Spa. Association
President Bob Davis acted as emcee for the evening, which featured a special
award leadership award.
�We were honored to present our own Sharon Mock, president and CEO of the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, with the Hospitality Leadership Award,� said Davis. �With 20 years of exemplary service and commitment to the local hospitality and tourism industry, Sharon was a natural choice.� Additional awards were given to hospitality employees, nominated by their respective properties, who were deemed as exemplary in their commitment and attention to customer service. Award winners included: Lodging Employee of the Year Victor Rivera (Best Western Castillo Del Sol); Bellperson of the Year Danilo Toledo (Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront) Room Attendant of the Year Rosa Arrango; Guest Services Employee of the Year LaVonne Wheeler (Sun Viking Lodge); Food and Beverage Employee of the Year Felix Vega (The Shores Resort and Spa); Engineer/Maintenance Employee of the Year Bill Beach (The Shores Resort and Spa and Steve Weedo (West Western Aku Tiki); Sale and Marketing Employee of the Year Kathleen Shakelford (The Shores Resort and Spa); Security/Valet Employee of the Year Joe Ramirez (Hilton Garden Inn); Free Standing Employee of the Year Suzy Erdle (Daytona Beach Halifax Area Chamber of Commerce.) The Hotel & Lodging Association of Volusia County represents over 10,000 rooms, 150 allied members and 43,300 employees in the hospitality industry. |
