.Developer Mark Kinser Commenses Construction on the Two Tower, Six story,
241 Unit Condominium Hotel, The Colosseum in Blacksburg, Virginia

Blacksburg, Va. Sept. 12, 2008 The Colosseum, Virginias first luxury sports condominium hotel, is pleased to announce a special groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the acquisition of financing and the start of construction. And theyre doing it the only way true Hokie fans know how: tailgate-style.

To get ready for game day weekend against Georgia Tech, The Colosseum will hold a groundbreaking event Friday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the new site located on Dowdy Drive in Blacksburg, just off Route 460.

Confirmed attendees include:
Mike Burnop, Network Analyst and Virginia Tech Hall of Famer
Lu Merritt, Virginia Tech Director for Intercollegiate Athletics
The Honorable Ron Rordam, Town of Blacksburg
Delegate David A. Nutter, Virginia House of Delegates 7th District
State Senator Ralph K. Smith, Senate of Virginia, 22nd District.

Developed by a local builder and Virginia Tech Alumnus, the two tower, six story, 241 unit condominium hotel will provide an experience beyond just lodging not currently found in the New River Valley, said owner/developer Mark Kinser, president and CEO of Unlimited Construction.

Virginia Tech and Blacksburg are a home away from home for many alumni and their families, Kinser said. We want to go beyond giving them a place to stay for the weekend, and create an oasis providing a relaxing and luxurious experience that will encourage fans and visitors to visit the New River Valley more often and continue to support our local community and economy.

Featuring classic Roman architecture and modern design, The Colosseum combines the benefits of a luxury hotel with the investment value of a condominium. Buyers can purchase a luxury fully furnished studio suite, or a one or two-bedroom suite in downtown Blacksburg and receive a deed for a real property interest they can in turn sell whenever they choose.  When the condominium unit owners stay at the hotel, they have access to all of the hotel's amenities, including its restaurant, bar, pool, fitness and spa facilities. When the owners are not using their suites, they can be made available to rent through the hotel's voluntary, rental program.

A generous supporter of Virginia Tech athletics, The Colosseum has pledged to donate a portion of the sale of each unit, up to $500,000, to the construction of the new basketball facility. The donation will be made in the name of the purchaser, who will also receive Hokie Points toward preferred seating and parking for their contribution.

Likewise, The Colosseum has committed to endow a permanent $100,000 scholarship for a student athlete pursuing a degree in property management or hospitality and tourism management, and offer internships to building and construction students during the construction phase.

Conveniently located near the heart of Blacksburgs business and shopping district and two miles from Lane Stadium and Cassell Coliseum, The Colosseum will be a world class property and destination location managed by Salamander Hospitality, a recognized and award winning leader in the management of exclusive Hotels and Resorts.
