The Silcon Group Set to Open a 100 room Indigo Hotel Within the New
Carriage City Mixed-use Building in Downtown, Rahway, New Jersey
.

RAHWAY, NEW JERSEY – The historic city of Rahway, New Jersey has been recently undergoing a cosmopolitan downtown revitalization. For the past 9 years, the City of Rahway has been preparing for a new way of life, a newly renewed community.  Rahway is becoming a synergy of where the historic and contemporary collide, a place where the old meets the new- Rahway in essence, is finally coming alive! Now embracing a variety of retail shops, art galleries, trendy restaurants and the newly renovated Union County Performing Arts Theater; the newest addition to Rahway’s dynamic downtown redevelopment is almost here: Hotel Indigo is expected to open this summer, August 2008.

The vision of InterContinental Hotels Group transpired Hotel Indigo as the hotel industry’s first “branded boutique hotel.” With already 25 in operation and over 44 hotels in the pipeline, Hotel Indigo at Skyview is one, soon to bloom right here in Union County.  Specifically, Hotel Indigo at Skyview is located directly across from Rahway’s Train Station in the heart of downtown. The 100 room, uniquely designed boutique hotel is complete with a hip bar and restaurant. Hotel Indigo, an eco-friendly hotel gone “Green,” offers a full sensory experience sure to inspire and refresh guests.

Hotel Indigo artfully combines the conveniences and consistencies of a brand hotel with the design cache and service personality of a boutique at an attractive price. It is uniquely designed to appeal to guests who desire affordable luxury, personal service and an alternative to traditional hotels without sacrificing any of the businesses amenities they have come to expect.

Upon entering Hotel Indigo, guests will feel an immediate shift away from the hectic pace of business travel. Completely different from typical beige box hotels, Hotel Indigo brings the outdoors inside, embracing vivid nature-inspired murals and unique aroma scents in its open and inviting public space. The soul of the brand’s retail-inspired concept is renewal– thoughtful changes that are made throughout the year to keep the hotel fresh, similar to the way retailers change their window displays. The renewal concept provides even the most frequent guest a unique experience with every stay. Public spaces will be transformed seasonally through changing artwork, music, flora and murals.

At Hotel Indigo guests can relax, recharge… and feel just a little bit hip.  Guest rooms create the ultimate “relaxation station”. Complete for that exceptionally refreshing night’s sleep is indulgent and plush bedding, a 32"HD-LCD TV, spa inspired shower, free Wifi, hardwood floors, oversized work station and an ergonomic chair. The hotel also features 2100 total square feet of thought-provoking meeting space, ideal for that perfect corporate venture outside the office.

The developer, Carlos J. Silva, Chairman and CEO of the Silcon Group, and Rahway Mayor, James J. Kennedy, officially unveiled the project and broke ground for the building with other dignitaries in attendance, including officials from the Rahway Redevelopment Agency and NJ State Senator Raymond Lesniak.

Named in honor of Rahway’s legendary status as the “Carriage City,” this state-of-the-art 380,000-squarefoot,
15- floor tower will be the first mixed-use residential property in Union County to combine condominiums, retail outlets and a hotel in the same building – a configuration that is popular in New York and other cosmopolitan centers.

“The growth of new housing around our train station that is breathing new life into Rahway has been accelerated with this ambitious new development. Our easy access to Newark Airport and Manhattan has made Rahway an extremely desirable place to live and work, and Carriage City is an example of that,” said Kennedy.

Adding an upscale appeal to Rahway’s downtown, Carriage City Hotel & Tower will bring over 20,000 square feet of prime retail space to that area, including a 7,000 sq. ft. restaurant. The complex will also feature downtown’s only hotel consisting of 102 boutique studios and suites.

The building will also offer downtown’s only new mid-rise residential construction featuring 209 one bedroom and two-bedroom luxury condominiums for sale. The condos will range in size from 850 sq. ft. to 1,600 sq. ft. and will be pre-construction priced from the mid-$200,000’s.
