Stevan Porter, President of the Americas for InterContinental Hotels Group, Steps
 Down for Medical Reasons; Richard Solomons Appointed Interim President

July 14, 2008 - --Stevan Porter, president of the Americas for InterContinental Hotels Group, has stepped down from his position for medical reasons.

IHG, which is based in England but has its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta, said Monday that Richard Solomons, the company's finance director, has been appointed interim president.

IHG officials declined to discuss Porter's illness. They said he is "undertaking medical treatment which necessitates him relinquishing his responsibilities."

IHG, one of the largest hoteliers in the world, operates chains such as Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Staybridge Suites and Crowne Plaza. The Americas is the company's largest region.
