Hotel Developer David Parmley Opens the 133 room Hampton
& Suites at the University of Missouri - Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo., Aug. 25, 2008 - Hampton(r), the national brand of mid-priced Hampton Inn(r) and Hampton Inn & Suites(r) hotels, today announced the official opening of its newest property, the Hampton Inn & Suites at the University of Missouri - Columbia.
The new hotel is strategically located at the Southeast entrance to the University of Missouri campus. It replaces the former Campus Inn hotel at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and College Avenue.
The hotel offers 133 rooms, including standard rooms, whirlpool suites and spacious family suites. The furnishings and interior design of the hotel feature a striking black and gold decor reflecting the Mizzou colors and custom black and white photography of campus scenes.
The hotel is owned by Stadium Lodging LLC which was formed by David Parmley, a St. Louis hotel developer with over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry including ownership of three other Hampton Inn hotels in Chesterfield, Missouri and in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The new Hampton Inn & Suites hotel brings Parmley full circle. His first job after graduating college in 1983 was the Campus Inn's Director of Sales.
Financing for the project was provided by two St. Louis firms -- Advantage Capital Partners, a venture capital and small business finance firm and Southwest Bank.
Within walking distance of Faurot Field, Mizzou Arena, and both the University and Veteran's Administration hospitals, the hotel's slogan is, "If you were any closer to the University....you'd have to enroll." The location will also be ideal for visiting High Schools and Big XII University sports teams when competing in Columbia.
"Given our proximity to the University, the hotel will become the most desirable place to stay in Columbia," Parmley said. "Instead of arranging transportation, campus visitors will be able to easily walk to sporting events, the hospitals, conferences and other on-campus activities. We look forward to providing Columbia's finest accommodations, meeting facilities and service to our guests. Following the best season ever for the Mizzou Tiger football team, the hotel's opening couldn't have come at a better time."
The hotel features over 5,000 square feet of convention meeting space, a private board room, three hospitality suites and can accommodate groups of up to 350 people. The property is also the only hotel in Columbia to offer 32" HDTV flat screens as standard in all guest rooms.
The hotel amenities include, but are not limited to our complimentary On the House(r) hot breakfast, an oversized indoor pool and whirlpool, free high-speed Internet access, Hampton's new "Be Fit" fitness center, and two executive business centers. "Hampton Hotels combine quality, service, comfort and plenty of value-added extras, making Hampton the brand of choice in the marketplace today," said Susan Bell, hotel general manager. "Cloud Nine," The Hampton Bed Experience, has been implemented in its more than 1,500 Hampton Hotels and is the most recent innovation. As part of the chain's "Make It Hampton" product enhancement initiative, Hampton has debuted new products and services ranging from complimentary On the House(r) hot breakfast and On the Run breakfast bags, Purity Basics(r) bath products and complimentary high-speed Internet access.
