The New York Chapter of Hospitality Sales & Marketing International
Rebrands Itself for the First Time in 30 Years - Now Known as the
Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI

.

NEW YORK (MAY 28, 2008) During its 30-year tenure, HSMAI Big Apple Chapter has been the cornerstone of New York City tourism, representing the interests of hospitality professionals  through its esteemed broad range of membership, composed of industry presidents, general managers, sales and marketing executives, booking agents, and advertising, marketing and public relations professionals.  The May 2008 meeting marked a new milestone for the chapter when it announced a rebranding to the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI.  The landmark event was celebrated by a champagne toast lead by Fran Brasseux, executive vice president of HSMAI.  With this change, the chapter continues to act as the leading source for knowledge, education, business development and networking for the many individuals in the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors that make up the chapter.

The rebranding pays homage to HSMAI members that extend beyond the metropolitan area to Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey.  Members and other industry professionals will immediately notice a new logo and branding package designed by HSMAI advertising partners, The Ad Store, as well as a strategic public relations campaign helmed by Quinn & Co.

Were not only changing our name, were also changing the way we do business. Were addressing issues that are topical to our partners in ways that will invite new members to engage in the greater New York hospitality scene, said Brenda Fields, president of the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI.  For example, Aprils annual General Managers Panel showcased trends and current events from hospitality and restaurant professionals with in our chapters broad range of members.  We offered advice on how to best tackle the changing economy surrounding NYC tourism.

To appeal to the chapters varied interests, the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI is offering new programs this year including a Meet the Food, Wine and Spirits Press luncheon, a discussion on the bigger picture of going green in the hospitality industry, and events focused on the state of the industry with topics such as corporate management and the best practices for request for proposals.  In addition, as education is an essential aspect of the chapters mission, the members of the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI will delight in This Is Our City tours, a series of one-time, exclusive events that explore the unique history of New York City in a way that showcases the unknown.  On May 15, 2008, This Is Our City escorted the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI members on a behind the scenes tour of the secrets of Grand Central Terminal.

According to Fields, The Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI will continue to evolve and incorporate the broad spectrum of our membership base with innovative programming designed to provide members with unique experiences relevant to the ever growing New York hospitality industry.
