Management Team at The Regent Bal Harbour Finalized
April 10, 2008 (Bal Harbour Village, Florida) – The Regent Bal Harbour, the stunning art moderne address overlooking white-sand Atlantic beaches of Bal Harbour, enjoys a top-flight and decidedly international management expertise, to focus on “The Regent Experience,”™ a branded promise to deliver renowned service and international style that runs deep through the roots of The Regent hotel brand.
Opened March 3, 2008, The Regent Bal Harbour is the new flagship of the Americas for Regent. The new oceanfront address features the first Guerlain Spa to debut in North America, a $4 million commissioned art collection and signature restaurant 1 Bleu, only the second Le Cordon Bleu reataurant collaboration in North America. Innovative hotel features include custom showers with floor-to-ceiling views of the Atlantic with “toe testers” that allow guests to check the temperature of the water with their toe, before stepping into the shower and in-mirror plasma televisions in every bathroom. These features echo 'Luxury for all of the Senses', the Regent philosophy this management team promises each guest.
Regent Hotels & Resorts has hand-selected extraordinary talents from world-renowned hotel brands such as St. Regis, Four Seasons and Rosewood to deliver A-list service, style and culture for all the senses. Meet the team:
Guenter H. Richter, CHA: An exceptional General Manager, Richter leverages nearly a lifetime of hospitality management experience garnered at some of the finest hotels in Europe and North America to establish The Regent Bal Harbour as greater Miami’s premier luxury address. Schooled in Hotel Economics at The School of Hotel Management and Administration in Heidelberg, Germany and at Cornell University, Richter brings extensive hospitality expertise earned at 4 and 5-Star properties throughout North America. In the 1970s, Richter held General Manager and Managing Director posts at Hilton Hotel properties such as The Washington Hilton, Washington DC; The Palmer House, Chicago; and The Waldorf Astoria, New York. During the 1980s, he was Vice President/Managing Director of the St. Regis Hotel, a Sheraton property in New York, before becoming Vice President of Operations for the newly-formed Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, with posts including The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas and The Bel Air Hotel in Beverly Hills. A dynamo in numerous hospitality disciplines, Richter later joined Carnival Hotels and Casinos, the Grand Bay Hotel in Miami, and The Drake Hotel, a Swissôtel property in New York. Prior to joining The Regent Bal Harbour, Richter was back at his old haunt as Managing Director of The St. Regis in New York.
Philippe Parodi, Director of Sales and Marketing: With 15 years experience in luxury hospitality, Parodi brings a great knowledge of the local, domestic and international markets to The Regent Bal Harbour. Born in Cannes, France, Parodi has the “savoir faire” when it comes to world-class quality and guest service. Most recently, he was Regional Director of Marketing for Morgans Hotel Group for Miami properties including The Delano and Shore Club. Previously, he oversaw sales and marketing for the 5-Star Hotel Martinez Cannes and was instrumental in the launch of its 5-Star sister, the Palais de la Mediterranee in Nice. An industry veteran, Parodi was also Director of Sales for one of the Grand Dames in Paris, Hotel de Crillon and for the Lucien Barriere Group in Cannes.
Gerdy Rodriguez, Executive Chef, 1 Bleu: Born in Cuba and raised in the melting pot of Miami, Chef Rodriguez has mastered a cuisine that combines local ingredients and tastes with his passion for the foods of the Mediterranean. The honors came early for Rodriguez, who was rated one of South Florida’s top five young chefs by South Florida Gourmet while still in his 20s. 2001, he became chef de partie and then sous chef under Executive Chef Angel Palacios – a protégé of revered Spanish Michelin Three Star chef, Ferrán Adrià, at the Michelin Two Star La Broche in Miami. Soon after, chef/restaurateur Norman Van Aken offered Rodriguez a hand in revamping Norman’s, Coral Gables, as well the openings of Norman’s, LA and Norman’s at the Ritz Carlton Orlando, all Mobil 4-Stars. Next, Van Aken handed Rodriguez the opening of Mundo, a Mobil 4-Star in Coral Gables, where he received numerous exceptional reviews. Rodriguez moved onto The Hamilton, a Mobil 4-Star New York boutique hotel from the Arrso Restaurant Company before taking the helm of Arrso’s Karu & Y in Miami. Most recently, Rodriguez re-invented Café Sambal at the AAA 5-Diamond/Mobil 4-Star Mandarin Oriental Miami.
Chauncey Copeland, CAM, Director of Operations: With a wealth of management experience, Copeland brings an insider’s understanding of the region’s luxury condo-hotel market and how best to blend Miami style with The Regent Experience.
