MONTEREY, Calif. (March 12, 2008) Clement Chen III, president of Pacific Hotel Management, LLC (PHM), has announced that InterContinental The Clement Monterey, a newly constructed luxury hotel overlooking the spectacular Monterey Bay, is scheduled to open in May 2008. The InterContinental is next door to the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium in the heart of historic Cannery Row on a site once occupied by the Del Monte Cannery. The magnificent waterfront site has been under consideration for development for more than 20 years, but the project remained only a concept until PHM took ownership in 2006 and brought the vision of a luxury coastal hotel to fruition. The InterContinental is an exciting project that has been on the horizon for many years and we are delighted to be the ones to bring it to life, said Chen. The hotel has spectacular views from its coastal vantage point, luxurious interior décor, and a design that takes full advantage of the beauty of the area while capturing all the charm of Montereys historic architectural vernacular. The InterContinental The Clement Monterey is the first new hotel to be built in Monterey since the late 1980s and is expected to be the last new construction for some time, possibly ever, due to city zoning limits in effect since the mid-1980s. Pacific Hotel Management owns and will manage the hotel, which will bear the highly-regarded, four-star InterContinental Hotels Group flag. Guests of the new 208-room hotel will enjoy superior service, upscale amenities, and a variety of culinary delights. Accommodations include 19 suites (including two conference suites), 123 king, 58 double and eight all-accessible rooms. The hotels 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space include impressive views of the Bay, state-of-the-art audio visual services and high-speed Internet access. Guestrooms and suites will feature natural wood, marble and glass finishes. All rooms are equipped with a king-size bed or two double beds, all with plush pillows and luxurious linens. Deluxe bathrooms feature imported marble and granite, soaking tubs, walk-in showers, special toiletries and other amenities. Room amenities include flat-screen televisions, fully-stocked mini bars, in-room coffee and tea service, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access. Many rooms also feature fireplaces and balconies. InterContinental The Clement Monterey showcases the finest in fresh seafood, Angus beef, and local organic produce at the hotels The C Restaurant & Bar overlooking Monterey Bay. Outdoor seating is available, as is a cuisine-to-go menu. The C has a separate bar area for cocktails and other beverages along with an extensive appetizer menu. InterContinental The Clement Monterey will also feature health, wellness and fitness programs provided by Monterey-based Energia Body Centre at the hotels full-service spa, as well as an outdoor, heated lap pool and whirlpool. The hotels VIP Kids Club will provide childcare and specialized childrens programs in an inviting play space that includes a horizontal climbing wall, stationary bikes with video games, and other fun pastimes for four- to twelve-year-olds. Guests can also make advance arrangements for in-room infant and toddler care (0 to 3 years). HKS Hill Glazier Studio in Palo Alto, California, a premier boutique hospitality design firm, created the architectural design for InterContinental The Clement Monterey. The interior designer is San Francisco-based Alamosa Design Associates (www.alamosadesign.com), known for bringing design, technical and construction expertise to high-end hospitality and residential projects such as The Four Seasons and The St. Regis hotels in San Francisco. Intercontinental The Clement Monterey is located at 750 Cannery Row adjacent to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Monterey is approximately 120 miles south of San Francisco. About Pacific Hotel Management, LLC
