Gettys Development Efforts Reach New Milestones,
Gain Momentum in 2008

January 30, 2008 - As a global hospitality interior design and procurement firm, Gettys has spent the last 20 years building a worldwide reputation for world-class design and delivering strong investment return for their clients.

But what makes them truly different and uniquely equipped to serve their international clients is their first hand experience in the client seat.

Gettys is an active hotel developer in their own right, both assisting clients as a development partner and pursuing their own projects, from due diligence and acquisition through design, procurement, and installation.  Their team of experts contributes diverse expertise in pre-development, planning, and project management, both in an advisory capacity and as a fully engaged development partner.

Gettys has always delivered incredible value to our clients through our diversity of expertise, and the last decade or so has provided us with even more opportunity to pursue principal investment activity and deliver that same value to our partners and our own firm, says Adam Shindler, Gettys new Development Director, who joined the firm in December.  Shindler will be responsible for assisting Gettys development team and investment partners with acquisitions analysis and providing consulting expertise to Gettys development clients.

Gettys development services include feasibility and due diligence analysis, capital improvement budgeting, ROI analysis, brand and management company selection, master planning, and project management capabilities.

In addition, Gettys award-winning design and architecture studios in Chicago, Hong Kong, Irvine and Miami and their in-house procurement division mean that they are nimble and can provide end-to-end services on the projects they undertake.

The firm prides itself on orchestrating large-scale, complex redevelopment and repositioning projects that other developers might hesitate to undertake. And as leaders in sustainable design for the hospitality industry, Gettys will integrate green practices into all of their projects and attain LEED® certification whenever possible.

Recently, Gettys completed two complicated projects in the Chicago area as part of their redevelopment portfolio.

The Hotel Cass Mag Mile was completely redeveloped and repositioned in 2007  - with partners Oxford Capital Group and The Bricton Group - from a tired, run-down and neglected property just steps from the Magnificent Mile to a boutique-styled jewel that attracts discerning travelers to the downtown area.

The Hotel Cass was a challenging but immensely satisfying project for us, says Jerry Zeitner, Gettys Vice President. Our team saw the potential both aesthetically and financially and we were able to successfully turn around a property that many other developers werent willing to take on.

Not far from downtown on Chicagos near north shore, Gettys also completed a successful redevelopment of what was once the North Shore Hotel in Skokie.

The development team took this outdated space - an existing but tired independent hotel on Chicago's North Shore - and turned it into a sophisticated and inviting space with elements of the unexpected.

By using Gettys' streamlined capabilities for design and procurement, the transformation was completed in just eight months, including updating of the guestrooms, guest baths, corridors, public spaces, and entrance areas. In addition, the hotel's conference center facilities are now an elegant and state-of-the-art location for business functions. By capitalizing on the opportunity to create an impact with a local hotel, Gettys has turned the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center into a leading choice for Chicago travelers, and the property was an award winner for Doubletrees Best Redevelopment Project in 2007.

The future of Gettys development efforts looks bright, indeed. Projects on the boards include two more redevelopment projects in downtown Chicago and several new opportunities across the country that are being considered in gateway markets.

Theres plenty of opportunity for companies like Gettys who can reduce risk and add value throughout a project, says Roger Hill, Gettys CEO and Chairman. We cant wait to take on the next challenge.

Established in nearly twenty years ago, Gettys is an award-winning hospitality design, procurement and development firm based in Chicago with offices in Miami, Irvine, Calif., and Hong Kong.  Work across North America, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean has earned Gettys a reputation as one of the finest hospitality design and development firms in the world.  For more information about Gettys and a sampling of their extensive portfolio, visit www.gettys.com.
