|BERLIN, Germany - February 25, 2008 - : Hosts of the 11th
International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) have announced the finalists
for the prestigious Deal of the Year Awards. The Deal of the Year
Awards will be presented 5 March 2008 at the InterContinental Hotel in
Berlin, Germany, in the categories of Single Asset, New Development, and
Finalists in the Single Asset category are the
Finalists in the New Development category are the
Global Hyatt Corporation’s purchase of JER Partners’ share of the 267 room
Andaz Liverpool Street (London, UK);
London & Regional Properties’ circa €300 million purchase of the
619 room Fairmont Monte Carlo (Monaco); and
FIMIT’s purchase of the ForteVillage Resort Sardinia asset (Sardinia),
with Robur S.r.l. acquiring the operating company, for an aggregate purchase
price of € 312m from LBFV LLC, a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers.
Finalists in the Portfolio category are
50 room Haymarket Hotel (London, UK), developed by Firmdale Hotels owners,
Tim and Kitt Kemp, at a cost of £32 million;
the 160 room The Charles Hotel (Munich, Germany) developed by Frankonia
Eurobau AG (managed by the Rocco Forte Collection) at an undisclosed cost;
the Yotel Gatwick (West Sussex, UK), developed by Yotel Airports Limited
at an undisclosed cost.
Regarding the Deal of the Year Awards, IHIF co-host Jim Burba, president
of Burba Hotel Network said, “The year 2007 was another very active one
for ‘deals’ in Europe, and this is reflected in both the quantity and quality
of all the candidates from which the finalists were selected by the nominating
committee.” Burba added, “The final selection of the winners will
be made by a vote of the IHIF sponsors and will be announced at the conference.
We expect that the final vote tallies will be close, as all of the candidates
are worthy recipients of the Deal of the Year Award.”
Accor’s various asset disposals – 91 hotels to Moor Park Real Estate for
€863m and 30 Ibis and Novotel hotels to Land Securities for €711m;
Blackstone’s acquisition of Deutsche Interhotel Holding’s entire hotel
EQT’s €833m acquisition of 128 Scandic hotels, 3 Hilton Hotels and
1 other hotel from Hilton Hotels Corporation.
