Feb. 15, 2008 - Six firms have submitted their credentials to Dallas City Hall in hopes of being selected to develop a Dallas Convention Center hotel, said Frank Poe, the city's director of convention and event services.

The companies are Beck of Dallas, Faulkner USA of Austin, Hines of Houston, Jones Lang LaSalle of Chicago, Matthews Southwest of Lewisville and Woodbine Development of Dallas.

City officials say they will now study the six companies' credentials before soliciting development proposals from those they deem qualified.

On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council approved an option agreement that allows the city to purchase an 8.34-acre tract on Young Street to potentially build a convention center hotel and related development.
