Puerto Rico's El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa Completes
$120 million Renovation Including a State-of-the-Art Water Park
.

LAS CROABAS, Puerto Rico, Feb. 7, 2008 - Puerto Rico's famed El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa (http://www.elconresort.com) culminates their exquisite $120 million property renovation with the highly anticipated opening of Coqui Water Park, the first water park ever to sit along the Caribbean Sea and overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Mind-blowing vertical drops and high-speed flume slides bring 362,080 gallons of non-stop fun to guests of all ages, and levels of excitement never before seen in Puerto Rico. Combined with the resort's private Las Casitas Village, families can experience more intimate retreats with secluded one-, two- and three-bedroom villas.

Located at Marina Village of El Conquistador Resort, the 2.4-acre Coqui Water Park fuses youthful energy with imagination for the ultimate family fun environment. Coqui Water Park was inspired by the resort's neighboring El Yunque Rainforest, home to Puerto Rico's beloved Coqui tree frog, and delivers an adventurous jungle experience, including waterfalls, rapids, a jungle rope bridge and more. Named after the benevolent Indian spirit Yuquiyu, El Yunque is comprised of 240 different species of trees and is the only rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Coqui Water Park blends natural rainforest design elements with state-of-the-art technology in each action-packed water ride, bringing the 8,000-square-foot lazy river, 253-foot double inner tube slide, high-speed, 40-foot vertical drop, and 26-foot serpentine flume body slide to life.

In addition to the extreme water rides and winding lazy river, Coqui Water Park guests also have access to an expansive, 25,554-square-foot sunbathing deck, 9,000-square-foot infinity edge pool, entertaining kids' pool area with the Coqui kids slide, and intimate dining and function areas for events. The Coqui kids slide brings junior thrill seekers their own waterlogged, pint-size fun; slide will have 38" height restriction.

For guests who seek a quieter escape, the relaxing sunbathing deck and nearby wading pools are just steps away from the laughter and splashes. Verdant natural vegetation along the resort hillsides and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea allow guests to peacefully catch rays while their adventurous counterparts soak up the thrill rides.

At 60 feet tall and named after El Yunque's God of Good, the iconic Torre de Yocahu, the water park's main tower, majestically overlooks the Caribbean Sea and offers park-goers a choice of three high-speed water slides, including El Gigante Dormido, Huracan and Marohu. All slides have a 48" height restriction.

El Gigante Dormido - Meaning sleeping giant, this vertical, speed slide brings a shocking and powerful thrill to those willing to experience its intense 40-foot drop.

Huracan - Inspired by the water, wind and speed of hurricanes, this ferocious, serpentine body slide surprises riders with 26 feet of intense curves and velocity.

Marohu - In honor of the legendary Taino God of Clear Weather, Marohu delivers a 26-foot, extreme one- or two-person inner tube ride twisting downhill where riders are propelled into the deep pool below.

Surrounding the main tower, Torre de Yocahu, is Coqui Water Park's signature lazy river system with sophisticated wave technology to push inner tube riders through the exotic, jungle landscape. The complex La Mina Lazy River, named after the mines of El Yunque, is 800 linear feet long and contains more than 180,000 gallons of water. The never-ending La Mina river loop allows sun-soaked guests to continually float along and envision an escape into the enchanting El Yunque rainforest without ever having to get off their inner tubes or out of the water.

Located on the eastern tip of Puerto Rico near the fishing village of Las Croabas, and dramatically set along the length of a 300-foot bluff, the lavish El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa spreads across 500 acres and overlooks the converging waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The resort destination contains 750 newly refurbished guestrooms and suites.
