Brenda Fields Named President of HSMAIs Big Apple Chapter
.

New York, NY (February 11, 2008) The Big Apple Chapter of Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has named Brenda Fields as its President for 2008.  A highly regarded industry veteran, Fields will lead the 500 plus member chapter, the largest within the Americas.  She is joined by a group of accomplished industry professionals, including Executive Committee members Markus Boeker of orbitz.com; Frank Stapleton of Monarch Group Ltd.; and Frank Dee, London NYC; as well as Donna Quadri-Felitti, Immediate Past President and Kathie Stapleton, Executive Director.

I am delighted to take on an even bigger role within the Big Apple chapter, said Fields, who has previously served on the Executive Committee and was awarded the Best of the Best by HSMAI in 2006 for her contributions on the Awards and Recognition Committee.  We will carry out a program of relevant and rigorous initiatives designed to further enhance the Big Apple Chapter and provide its members with the tools and information they require for success.

Under Fields leadership, the Big Apple chapter will undertake key strategic initiatives in 2008, including This is Our City, a program designed to provide members and guests insights and first hand experience on lesser-known but meaningful parts of the city and to provide members with the opportunity to experience a behind-the-scenes look at many of New Yorks tourism icons.

Fields will also oversee the redesign of the HSMAI Big Apple chapter logo and its related applications.  Working with our newest Platinum Partner and Benefactor, The Ad Store, we are seeking to create a logo that reflects our contemporary and fresh attitude, said Fields.

The Chapter will further enhance and add features to its website in order to provide members with the tolls and resources they need to grow their skills and knowledge.

Fields was recently recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing for 2007 at the HSMAI Annual Adrian Awards ceremony. The annual ranking pays tribute to the best minds in hospitality, travel and tourism sales and marketing, saluting outstanding individuals who define innovation, vision, and achievement, and whose work gets great results.

As president of Fields & Company, a hospitality industry consultancy, Brenda Fields has worked with numerous industry leaders and innovators, ranging from hotelier Ian Schrager and developer Harry Macklowe to powerhouse industry brands such as Starwood, Planet Hollywood and Apple Core Hotels.  In addition to her role with HSMAI, she serves as a member of the Editorial Board of Hotel Executive.com and is a regular contributing editor to international publications Hotel-Online, Hotel Resource Weekly Network News, eHoteliers and 4Hoteliers.  She is also a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Eighty years young, HSMAI is one of the most vibrant organizations in the global tourism and hospitality industry.  The New York City metro chapter will reach more than 500 members in 2008.  For more information and a complete list of the 2008 committee leadership and calendar, visit www.hsmainyc.org.
