The 230-acre Scrub Island Is Site of First Resort Development
to Take Place in the British Virgin Islands in 15 Years

SCRUB ISLAND, BVI Oct. 15, 2007   Scrub Island, the first resort development to take place in the British Virgin Islands in more than 15 years, proudly announces the topping off of  the first buildings. Structures basking in the heightened glory include the awe-inspiring two bedroom villas built into the scenic hillside as well as larger multi-level villas, each touting a private infinity edge pool. Two buildings have also been topped off in the centrally located marina village home to many of the islands amenities and the Marina Village rooms and suites.

We are thrilled with the progress being made on Scrub Island, says Joe Collier, President of Mainsail Hotels. The topping off is just the first sign of many great things to come for our guests and for the community as a whole.

Returning to its local roots, Mainsail Development Group also officially announces Scrub Island as the new name for the property. Originally slated as Mainsail Resort, Marina & Spa, the team has opted to embrace the natural history of the island and its importance to the community while emphasizing the fact that the project is more than simply a resort, marina and spa its a private island. The private island will not exceed more than 200 residents or guests at any given time.

Mainsail Development Group based in Tampa, Florida is developing this boutique, luxury resort and spa on Scrub Island in the British Virgin Island chain. Over 10 years in the making, we have been able to purchase Scrub Island and have already completed the initial phase of adding all utilities (water desalinization plant, electrical power and sewage facility) which most other Caribbean developments have not completed. We are currently in construction on the Marina, Marina Village as well as numerous residences. Scrub Island is owned by a small group of individuals forming the ownership group named Scrub Island Development Group (SIDG). We are are being very careful about the development of this beautiful island.  Our vision for the island is to create  place where privacy and comfort meet the ambiance and unique qualities of the environment.  We look forward to this opportunity to introduce you to the Scrub Island Resort, Marina & Spa - BVI.
