Florida International University (FIU) invites nominations and applications for the Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.  The dean leads a talented faculty in the disciplines of hospitality and tourism located in culturally vibrant Miami, Florida, and Tianjin, People�s Republic of China.  The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at FIU has maintained a consistent ranking as one of the top hospitality management schools in the US and has won international recognition.  The School offers bachelor�s and master�s degrees to over 1700 students on two continents.  To more fully understand the uniqueness of the School, please visit its web site at www.hospitality.fiu.edu  as well as the university�s web site at www.fiu.edu.

The School is seeking a dean who has attained distinction in one of the disciplines of the School and is a proven leader with the requisite vision to continue the School�s development as a global leader of hospitality education and research.  The dean is expected to promote the global visibility of the School�s programs, foster research,  partner with the university�s Vice President for Advancement to grow the School�s endowment and manage the School�s human, fiscal and physical resources.  The dean must work closely with leaders of the hospitality and tourism industries to develop the necessary relationships to ensure that the School remains among the best in the world.  In addition, the dean will effectively work with students and faculty as well as with the alumni and other benefactors to enhance the reputation of the School.

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) in the appropriate field from an accredited institution of higher education, demonstrated successful experience in academic administration, evidence of scholarly and professional achievement that will merit a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor, demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies, knowledge of hospitality and tourism and their role in the global marketplace and society, demonstrated success in developing external funding and fund raising from private and public sources, and an ability to effectively manage programs on different continents and in different cultures.
