Gemstone Hotels & Resorts Names Michael Straube Regional
Director of Operations;
Will Operate out of the Carlton on Madison Avenue in
New York City

PARK CITY, Utah, December 13, 2007 � Gemstone Hotels &
Resorts, LLC, a leading hotel and resort management company, today announced
that it has named Michael Straube regional director of operations.
Straube will operate out of the Gemstone-managed Carlton on Madison Avenue
in New York City, where he will oversee the repositioning initiative currently
under way at the property, as well as the rooms and public spaces renovation
process. Additionally, Straube will be an active participant in other
Gemstone projects and properties in the northeastern U.S.
�With his strong background and over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Michael is an ideal candidate to help Gemstone grow as we continue to expand our portfolio nationwide,� said Jeff McIntyre, Gemstone principal. �He possesses in-depth knowledge of the northeastern region and of New York City, in particular, locations where we actively are seeking additional growth opportunities.� Prior to joining Gemstone, Straube was senior vice president for the Peninsula Real Estate Group, LLC, where he was responsible for the asset management of the Beekman and Eastgate Hotels. He has held a variety of positions within the industry, including Corporate Controller at Tishman Hotel Corporation and Area Controller on the original team that launched the W brand with the first three W hotels in New York. Straube received his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
