Earning LEED Points Easier with New Water Conservation Product

WasteStop Flow Control Valves Reduce
Water Flow, Not Water Pressure
.

RENO, NV January 3, 2008 ConservCo Water Conservation Products, LLC today announced that its newest product, the WasteStop Valve, can help earn a building two Water Efficiency LEED points from the U.S. Green Building Council because of the water savings it produces.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings.  It was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices.  The organizations rating system for Existing Buildings Upgrades, Operations and Maintenance provides two points toward LEED Certification for buildings that can reduce baseline fixture (faucets and showers) water use by 30%.  ConservCos WasteStop Valve can reduce water use by as much as 60% in these fixtures.

The WasteStop Valve is a static-rate flow control valve used to reduce water waste in faucets and showers.  It is unique in its ability to reduce flow rates without any decrease in water pressure.  As a result, users never get the experience that they are using a low-flow fixture.

WasteStop is designed to reduce water waste without sacrificing consumer satisfaction, said Lauren Sellyei, President of ConservCo.  The result is that tenants in office buildings, or guests in hotels or restaurants where the WasteStop Valve is installed enjoy customer experiences that are completely unaffected by the decrease in flow.

The WasteStop Valve is the only product of its kind to provide a steady flow rate even if supply pressure fluctuates.  WasteStop maintains a constant flow of 1.25 gpm (gallons-per-minute) whether water pressure is 40 psi or 120 psi because it uses a dynamic pass-thru orifice that reacts to water pressure to maintain a constant flow rate.  Its design includes an internal anti-clog nozzle, so debris in the supply line wont affect flow.

Owners of office or apartment buildings and hotel or restaurant operators where the WasteStop Valve is installed enjoy several benefits.  Because it reduces water use and therefore waste facilities retrofitted with the WasteStop Valve experience immediate reductions in water, energy and sewer expenses.  Water savings is straightforward.  But energy use also declines since water that would otherwise have been heated is no longer wasted, as is also the case with water that would otherwise have flowed into sewers.   In most cases, the WasteStop Valve will pay for itself in just a few months.  Yet financial incentives for property owners dont end with decreases in operating expenses.

Projects that are awarded LEED Platinum Certification are eligible to receive a rebate for all certification fees and many Municipal Water Districts, such as the Southern Nevada Water Authority, offer financial incentives to commercial and multifamily property owners that install water-efficient devices like the WasteStop Valve.
