Chris Miller Appointed to Regional Director of Sales and
Marketing
at the Hotel ICON, Managed by Destination Hotels &

HOUSTON
(August 31, 2007) � Hospitality industry veteran Chris Miller recently
was appointed to regional director of sales and marketing at the award-winning
Hotel ICON, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, where he will
oversee group and leisure sales, revenue management, marketing and public
relations activities. Miller and his family are returning to the
Bayou City after a 10-year hiatus in Chicago, IL.
�Chris comes to this position with 17 years of industry experience,� said Roland Maldonado, general manager of Hotel ICON. �He has proven himself to be a dedicated leader and an accomplished businessman. We are confident his expertise, coupled with his �can do� attitude, will go a long way in further establishing Hotel ICON as Houston�s leading personal luxury hotel.� Miller joins Hotel ICON from Doubletree Chicago O�Hare Airport, where he directed the hotel�s revenue generation initiatives. Named �Sales and Marketing Leader of the Year� in 2006, Miller was responsible for growing the property�s revenues by $3.5 million and increasing revenue per available room by 18 percent in 2006 over 2005. Previously, Miller served as director of national accounts for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Miller also held a number of positions with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts from 1992 to 2003. During his 11-year tenure, he worked his way through the ranks from an executive conference manager to regional vice president of sales. In his final years with the company, Miller managed multiple hotels, 50 sales professionals and more than $100 million in revenue. Miller received his Bachelor of Science degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management from The Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife, Jane, and three children currently reside in Katy. Hotel ICON, a 135-room property, is located in the heart of Houston�s arts, entertainment, business and sports districts. Formerly the Union National Bank building, this historic landmark underwent a $35 million renovation in 2004.
