SINGAPORE,
July 10, 2007 - Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment
of Thomas B. Meier as vice president, operations as it continues to extend
its footprint globally.
In his new role, Mr Meier will assist Mrs Diana Ee-Tan, managing director of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, to oversee the operations of existing hotels, as well as future openings of new hotels under the Raffles portfolio. Over the past 12 months, eight new hotels and resorts have been announced. Over the past three months alone, Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced the addition of four properties to its collection of award-winning hotels: Raffles Resort Konottaa, Maldives; Raffles Tianjin, China; Raffles St Lucia, West Indies and Raffles Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Mr. Thomas B. Meier joined Raffles Hotels & Resorts in early 2000 and was hotel manager / general manager at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh, before he moved to Singapore where he eventually assumed the position of general manager, Raffles The Plaza, as well as area general manager (SouthEast Asia & China), Raffles Hotels & Resorts. A graduate of the Lausanne Hotel Management School (EHL), Mr Meier has more than 12 years of management experience in various countries in Asia. As area general manager (South East Asia & China), Mr. Meier played an instrumental role in the re-launch of Raffles� first property in China, the legendary Raffles Beijing Hotel. The numerous international awards and accolades the Hotel has garnered over the past months are testimonies of the successful re-launch. Mr Meier is presently leading teams preparing for the pre-opening of Raffles Dubai, Raffles Tianjin and Raffles Resort Konotta, Maldives.
