DALLAS,
TX (May 4, 2007) Westin Galleria Dallas, part of the Starwood
Hotel and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. family, has announced its plans for a
complete renovation to incorporate a more modern, sophisticated and luxurious
design for its guests. The transformation leaves no area untouched
and includes the redesign and expansion of all of 432 guestrooms.
The hotel, known for offering business and leisure travelers a total
renewal experience, will look to become the premier first-tier destination
in North Dallas.
Our guests come seeking a retreat from the rigors of travel, and the
time is right for us to enhance the Westin experience, said John Everett,
general manager of the Westin Galleria Dallas. For more than 20 years,
our goal has been to provide our guests with everything they need to feel
relaxed and rejuvenated. This transformation will ensure that our
reputation for modern luxury and relaxation continues to resonate with
guests seeking the ultimate experience.
Westin Galleria Dallas, centrally located at IH-635 and Dallas North
Tollway, began renovations in January with a completion date slated for
Spring 2008. The enhancements are designed by Steinberg Architects
and will be completed by the VCC Construction Company in phases to allow
the hotel to remain open without interruptions of guest services.
BKG Service Corporation is managing procurement.
All guestrooms will be expanded to include the hotels popular Heavenly
Beds, while select rooms will feature Westins signature walk-in Heavenly
Showers. New noise-resistant and energy-efficient glass windows will
be installed, and artwork created by Texas artist James H. Evans will adorn
the guestrooms.
Additionally, guestrooms will cater to the business traveler by featuring
an oversized work desk, two-line cordless telephone with data port, high-speed
wired and wireless Internet access, in-room refreshment center featuring
the new Westin WakeCup coffee brewer and complimentary Starbucks coffee.
The Westin has been a cornerstone partner for Galleria Dallas, and
in a sense, is one of the centers anchors, said Peggy Weaver, Galleria
Dallas general manager. Dallas/Ft. Worth is the number one tourist
destination in Texas, and the Westin Galleria transformation will draw
even more guests to the North Dallas area. Without question, the
enhancements to the Westin will solidify Galleria Dallas' reputation as
the most dynamic shopping environment in North Texas.
Currently, the lobby and floors 15-19, which include the Westin executive
lounge are undergoing renovation. Plans also include the transformation
of the 21st floor into sky suites and patio rooms, and the new executive
lounge. Westin also will introduce Westin signature in-room spa treatments
that will cater to guests rejuvenation and well-being. An expanded
Westin WORKOUT powered by Reebok is also being added to further enhance
the guest experience and support the Westin renewal philosophy of delivering
a complete sensory experience of rejuvenation and tranquility.
The Dallas hospitality industry is ripe for competition, said Everett.
Nationally, Dallas is the third highest market in terms of room demand
and had the fourth highest increase in the nation regarding revenue per
available room in 2006. The upgrades were making will allow us to draw
more people to our hotel. We are committed to offering the best possible
service to our guests, and this renovation will give us tools to exceed
that goal.
