Marriott International Rebrands The Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel
& Conference Center; Originally Opened in 1972 as the PLM Saint
Jacques, the Largest Conference Hotel in Paris

PARIS, May 23, 2007 - Sometimes, when you look back, you find the future. That's what happened yesterday when the 757-room Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center, the largest hotel convention center in Paris, was rebranded by Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR - News) following a complete refurbishment of all guest rooms, public spaces, restaurant and bar facilities. Marriott Chairman and Chief Executive Officer J.W. Marriott Jr., was in Paris to commemorate the opening of the hotel and to celebrate his company's anniversary with some of the 1,000 associates of Marriott's eight hotels in France.

"It is fitting to be here in Paris in May," Mr. Marriott said. "My father founded our company on May 20, 1927, the same day that Charles Lindbergh made his historic trans-Atlantic flight from New York, landing right here in Paris."

Originally opened in 1972 as the PLM Saint Jacques, the hotel came to define "Business Chic" (defining an attitude, elegant, cheeky, witty, constantly reinventing tradition), rapidly becoming a favorite gathering place for visitors to Paris, as well as celebrities and trendsetters. Marriott acquired the hotel in March 2006, and has aimed to restore the hotel's "Business Chic" feeling.

The hotel manages to remain an all-business hotel while also establishing -- through changing sound, light, and cool, comfortable furnishings -- the "business chic" vibe. At the hotel's heart is the duplex public space right off the lobby called R'Yves. Stylish yet accessible, its design offers separate yet open nooks for impromptu meetings; casual conversations over coffee, cocktails or cognac; breakfast, lunch and dinner, upstairs or down; and WIFI throughout. Nearby, adjacent to the Business Center, are two semi- private salons with flat-panel TVs and plug-in dataports.

Refurbishment plans called for a total redesign of all guest rooms beginning in 2006, bringing the total rooms to 757, increasing the total suites to 51; adding a large executive lounge and a complete reconfiguration and re-conception of the hotel's food and beverage areas (R'Yves).

The hotel is located at 17, Boulevard Saint Jacques in a residential area on the famous Left Bank in the 14th Arrondissement - about a 15 minute walk from Montparnasse. Close by is the Metro Station Saint-Jacques, serving the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower and Montparnasse.

The hotel has 48,883 square feet of conference space and is the largest conference hotel in Paris. The space configuration includes a 13,240 square- foot ballroom with a pre-function foyer atrium space measuring 6,781 square feet. The balance of the space includes a 160-seat auditorium and 40 banquet rooms of varying sizes.

Designed by architect Pierre Giudicelli in 1969, the PLM Saint Jacques had a fresh style attuned to the tastes of the times and took the lead in offering business travelers and tourists' standards of comfort previously available in the luxury segment. As the world's first fully computerized hotel, it had the world's fastest elevators, a convention center with an area of 28,000 square feet and seating for 1,000, a boutique area, a movie theater named after and sponsored by Jerry Lewis and "Jun," one of the first Japanese restaurant in Paris. Other guest amenities include 24-hour room service, high-speed and WIFI Internet access, concierge service, Elite lounge, parking and a beauty salon.

Marriott International is presently represented in Paris by seven hotels spanning three lodging brands. These include the 192-room Marriott Paris Champs Elysees, the 97-room Renaissance Paris Plaza Vendome, the 327-room Renaissance Paris La Defense, the 242-room Courtyard by Marriott Neuilly, the 150-room Courtyard by Marriott Paris Colombes, and the 300-room Courtyard by Marriott Roissy at Charles de Gaulle International Airport. An eighth Paris hotel was announced today by Marriott - the 118-room Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel is expected open in 2009.
