Appointment Ends 6-month Vacancy
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. May 16, 2007 - Ian Black has been appointed vice president, meetings and convention sales of the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau (PBC CVB). In this role, Black will be responsible for group bookings as well as contracting long-term convention center sales. According to Jim Stuber, interim director of the PBC CVB and who spearheaded the search for a qualified candidate, Black begins his new job May 29. The position has been open since late last year. "Securing the talents of Ian Black has been worth the wait," said Stuber. "He is a seasoned hospitality executive; well-known and well respected within the industry and offers a solid track record of success. Palm Beach County is fortunate to have attracted a professional of Black's caliber. We are confident that he will lead our sales team to new levels of achievement and service." Previously, Black served as the area director of sales in South Florida for the Procaccianti Group, one of the top five privately held owner-operators of hospitality assets in the United States. Here, Black re-positioned three nationally-branded hotels to lead group sales 149% ahead of pace. He transformed marketing initiatives, increased profitability and fueled staff pride and achievement. Palm Beach County presents "The Best of Everything®" - from distinctive attractions and cultural venues to top-notch festivals and edge-of-your-seat sporting activities. The architecturally inspired, 350,000 square foot Palm Beach County Convention Center ushered in a new level of business/convention travel in the destination when it opened in the heart of West Palm Beach in 2004. The County's innovative and no cost "With Our Compliments," program streamlines the meeting planning process by offering one-stop service for coordinating every aspect of an event including accommodations, off-sight venues, transportation, speakers, event designers and photographers. |
