Plantation, Fla. June 8, 2007 Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) has named 29-year hotel industry veteran Tim Rector vice president of sales and marketing of the all-new Sheraton Cable Beach Resort in The Bahamas, which is set to open its doors on June 12, 2007.

I am proud to have taken part in the growth and development of several notable Sheraton properties throughout my career, and relish the opportunity to bring the Sheraton brand to Nassau at a time when the tourism industry in the region is re-energized and expanding, said Rector.  Our customers will thoroughly enjoy the same Sheraton service standards they have come to expect, and will be delighted by the unparalleled location, and all-new rooms, restaurants and public spaces.

Rector rejoins Starwood and Sheraton, where he held several executive sales and marketing positions from 1981-2000.  As director of sales in Starwoods Global Sales Office in Chicago, he managed the sales team in the Midwest region, represented the company at a variety of industry conventions and conferences, and organized several major annual customer events.  He served as the director of sales and marketing for the 1,200-room Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, a position that also included catering duties.  Rector was also the director of sales of the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., where he coordinated all sales efforts in the pre- and post-opening of the 1,500-room property.  As director of sales and promotions of the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., he oversaw all management responsibilities, including sales, catering and convention services.  He also served as the sales/catering manager of the Sheraton Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Most recently, Rector served as regional director of sales and marketing for LXR Luxury Resorts and managed the sales and catering sales teams for the companys Caribbean and South Florida resorts.  Prior to that, he was regional director of sales and marketing for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, where he was responsible for the sales, catering, public relations and marketing efforts for eight Caribbean properties.
