.
Academic Qualifications Do Not Hold Up Under Scrutiny

14 June 2007 - InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG) today announces that Patrick Imbardelli has resigned from his position of Chief Executive, Asia Pacific Region.

This decision follows an internal review of the academic qualifications of Patrick as previously presented to the Company.

Patrick Imbardelli, 46, resigned from his position as chief executive of the firm's Asia Pacific division following an internal review, which came shortly after the firm announced its intention to appoint him to the company's board. Mr. Imbardelli had claimed he had three university degrees, including an undergraduate degree in hotel administration from Victoria University in Australia, and Bachelor and Master degrees from Cornell University.

The appointment of Patrick to the Board of IHG as from 1 July 2007 (previously announced on 9 May 2007) will therefore no longer proceed.  Patrick Imbardelli joined Bass PLC, the forerunner to IHG in 2000 and was appointed Managing Director, Asia Pacific in 2003. Previous to that he held a number of management roles with Hilton International, Hyatt Corporation and Southern Pacific Hotels Corporation.

IHG further announces today that Tony South, currently Senior Vice President, Development and Asset Management, Asia Pacific, becomes Acting Chief Executive of the region with immediate effect.

In this role, Tony will assume full executive authority for the region and report directly to Group Chief Executive, Andrew Cosslett. A chartered accountant, Tony has over 30 years experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, joining IHG (then Bass PLC) in June 2000. Prior to his current role, he was Chief Operating Officer for IHG's Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Region.
