The Westin Resort Hilton Head Island Opens the First Heavenly
Spa by Westin in the Continental United States

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (March 22, 2007) The Westin Resort Hilton Head Island will open the first Heavenly Spa by Westin in the Continental United States in April 2007, according to the resorts General Manager Jim McGlashan. Developed exclusively for Westin Hotels & Resorts, the Heavenly Spa by Westin is a retreat for guests seeking a moment to renew, relax and be pampered.

This marks the fourth Heavenly Spa by Westin to grace the brands portfolio, joining three others located at The Westin Maui, The Westin Fiji and The Westin Langkawi, in Malaysia.

The brand-new 8,000 square foot spa will feature nine deluxe treatment rooms including two facial rooms, and one opulent couples suite with dual beds and an oversized soaking tub. The facility will also include luxurious mens and womens locker rooms complete with saunas. Perhaps the most unique characteristic is the architectural design of the facility; the modern and simplistic elements invite guests to enjoy the relaxing sanctuaries and alcoves complimented by relaxing fire and water fixtures to further enhance the sensory experience.

Above all the services and amenities available, the spa ultimately provides guests with a sensually therapeutic and tranquil experience that mentally, physically and spiritually stimulates the five senses through holistic treatments.

Upon arrival at The Heavenly Spa by Westin, guests are given a signature beverage of blueberry and white tea and a warm herbal pack to relax their shoulders as they check in for their treatment.

As the guests move about the spa, they are provided the highest level of instinctive service as they are escorted through their spa journey.  The peaceful environment of the spa is reflected by small, thoughtful touches. Serene visual stimuli such as white flowers and insightful messages are displayed throughout the spa, and the sound of gentle waterfalls provides a tranquil backdrop. The scent of white tea aromatherapy fills the spa, and steam rooms are infused with Eucalyptus oils to invigorate the senses.

The exclusive collection of Holistic Spa Services which includes the Indigo massage, Indigo wrap and Indigo facial, are designed to reflect the cultural and natural surroundings of Hilton Head Island. Developed to honor the indigo plant, one of Hilton Head Islands historically prevailing crops, these treatments were created to relax your body, stimulate and purify your skin, and open your mind through the energy of the indigo plants vibrant color.

The Heavenly Spa massage table is considered by many to be the most luxurious spa table currently on the market. Ergonomically designed to fit the curves of the body, the tables strength and AeroCel padding system provides sumptuous comfort and support, enveloping guests into cloud-like softness during massage treatments. Comphy linens provide an amazingly light yet plush comfort, indulging guests with ease and contentment. The face cradle was designed exclusively for the Heavenly Spa, and features a glass bowl filled with white flowers and signature aromatherapy blends as a soothing focal point for guests.

In addition to signature touches and massages, the Heavenly Spa also offers a full-service salon, complete with manicure, pedicure, facial and hair salon services. The spa also features contemporary techniques such as the Rollerssage hot stone treatment, a therapy in which heated crystalline spheres are rolled over the body, melting away tension and relaxing tight muscles.

Amy Wilson-Moghina will serve as the Heavenly Spa Director, and brings to her new position an impressive background in opening and managing luxury spas. Her experience includes, but is not limited to, formerly serving as Spa Director at The Boulders Resort in Carefree, AZ , an award winning facility that has consistently been voted #1 Small Luxury Resort by Andrew Harpers Hideaway Report.

Located within Port Royal Plantation, The Westin Resort Hilton Head Island is a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning resort overlooking a newly renourished Atlantic beach and includes more than 500 guest room and villa accommodations. The resort offers a variety of dining options, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a full-service health club, running and walking trails, beach and water sports.

Guests also have access to the private Port Royal Racquet Club and the Port Royal Golf Club, featuring three spectacular 18-hole golf courses: The Barony, Planters Row and Robbers Row, designed by George W. Cobb, Willard C. Byrd and Pete Dye, respectively. The Port Royal Racquet club features 16 tennis courts featuring all three Grand Slam court surfaces -- clay, hard and grass.
