| OSAGE BEACH, Mo., and SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – March 7, 2007
– Mr. John Q. Hammons today revealed his plans to develop a first-class,
luxury property on a 30-acre waterfront location near the Grand Glaize
Bridge at the popular Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, Mo. Inspired by
Mr. Hammons’ extensive study of chateaus and castles of the world, the
15-story, 320-rooms and suites, European-style property will be called
Chateau on Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach, Mo., and will feature a spa
and over 100,000 gross square feet of meeting space. The hotel and exhibition
center will be owned by Mr. John Q. Hammons and managed by Springfield,
Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s leading independent
builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels,
resorts and suites ( www.jqhhotels.com).
Representing Mr. Hammons’ 14th property in Missouri, Chateau on Lake
of the Ozarks is slated to open spring 2010 with construction expected
to begin spring 2008. The property will be strategically located near the
new interchange at U.S. Highway 54 that feeds several major U.S. highways.
The hotel will be well positioned along the Lake of the Ozarks’ 1,375 miles
of scenic shoreline and offer panoramic views of the lake from three sides
of the peninsula. Located in central Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks is the
state’s premier all-around vacation spot and attractive for group business
with significant interest from St. Louis, Mo.; Kansas City, Mo.; Des Moines,
Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; and Chicago. In 1922, Union Electric purchased Lake
of the Ozarks to dam and create a power source.
“We’ve been considering Lake of the Ozarks as a prime destination for many years. The time is right to build a luxury, convention center hotel to meet demand and supplement the current supply for potential economic growth to the area,” said Mr. Hammons, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts. “We’re creating something truly special that complements our renowned resort gem in Branson, Chateau on the Lake overlooking Table Rock Lake.”
