Dr. Monika Gommolla is happy about the steady progress at the construction site. She stresses the importance of the new hotel for Maritim: "Our company is based in North Rhine-Westphalia. Therefore it has always been our great wish to be present here at the capital of our own State. The location at Düsseldorf Airport guarantees excellent traffic connections and easy access. The cornerstone for the new hotel with 533 rooms was laid in January, 2006. Now, 14 months later, the shell is finished, and in December 2007 the first guests will move in. So far, Köster AG of Osnabrück have used 45,000 cubic metres of concrete, 7,750 tons of reinforced concrete and 900 tons of steel in building. The façade alone will measure 20,000 square metres after it is finished. A glass roof of 17 metres width and 125 metres length will span the hotel lobby. For internal and external communication 215 kilometres of cable will be hidden in the walls and floors. At the opening in December, 502 elegantly furnished rooms, 30 suites with sizes of 50 to 100 square metres and a presidential suite of 220 square metres will await the guests.

The hotel will offer a variety of restaurants and bars: an à la carte restaurant (539 seats), a bistro (174 seats), a sushi bar (36 seats), a beer parlour (110 seats) and a classical bar (153 seats). On the sixth floor, a VIP lounge will be at the business guests' disposal. A wellness area with workout room, sauna and pool will offer relaxation before or after a hard day's work. There will also be an underground car park with 450 spaces.

With the new Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf the German hotel company once again realizes its successful concept of "meeting and overnighting under one roof." The largest hall alone at the new hotel, an auditorium with a stage and gallery, offers room for up to 2,500 persons and is equipped with the latest in conference technology. Large openings in the façade let the natural daylight in. The second, smaller hall also comprises of a gallery and stage and can accommodate up to 1,100 guests. Both halls also offer foyers with sizes of 970 and 350 square metres respectively. 21 further conference rooms and meeting suites can accommodate from 20 up to 400 people, depending on their individual size. In total, they add space for another 1,400 persons.

The hotel will have direct access to the airport terminal, a main hotel entrance with a ramp and a passage to the adjoining Airport City. Access per car, plane or train is very convenient and easy.

With presently 47 hotels, Maritim Hotelgesellschaft is ranked among the leading German hotel chains. Ten of the hotels are abroad in Belek, Marmaris and Alanya (all Turkey), Djerba and Yasmine Hammamet (Tunisia), Majorca, Malta, Mauritius, Riga (Latvia) and Tenerife. As marketing and sales partner of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc Maritim is represented worldwide. The strong position of Maritim Hotelgesellschaft within the European first class hotel market will be strengthened further by continual growth.

Maritim Hotels - A Story of Success

Thursday, March 23, 2006. A fresh breeze at the seaside, sandy beaches and sunshine - this is simply maritime. When opening the first hotel, a resort at Timmendorfer Strand on the Baltic Sea, a suitable name for the company was soon found - Maritim. What began in 1969 with the unique concept of "accommodation and conference facilities under one roof" has in the meantime developed into one of Germany's leading hotel companies.

Philosophy

Maritim stands for high level comfort, first class ambience, culinary delights, personal service and hospitality, combined with relaxation and a wide range of sports and fitness facilities, large conference capacities and event services at highest professional level. The wellbeing of their guests has always been in the centre of attention of all Maritim hotels.

For the past 36 years Maritim has specialised in the meetings and conventions sector, gaining a top position in this field within the European hotel market. But right from the beginning, resort hotels have also been a strong Maritim product line. The Maritim Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand, opened in 1969, is situated directly on the beach. Nowadays a portfolio of five Maritim hotels along the Baltic Sea offer relaxing holidays on the seaside, one of them a club hotel. Further Maritim resort hotels can be found in the Black Forest and the Harz Mountains. Maritim locations abroad are Tenerife, Malta and Mauritius, and the resort aspect also plays a strong role in the current international expansion of the company with recent new locations in Tunisia, Turkey and Bali.

The Maritim portfolio now comprises 44 hotels with nearly 12,200 rooms. Top sites in central locations - this is one of the most important ideas on which the company is built. Whether in a city or in a resort location, all hotels offer the opportunity of leisure, combined with a separate area for conferences and events. Conference participants and individual travellers alike are thus able to enjoy their stay in the same hotel. After a business meeting, spacious wellness facilities offer relaxation. Activities such as Nordic walking, mountain biking, golf or diving, fine dining or cultural events are integral parts of Maritim weekend or holiday packages. In Warnsdorf near Lübeck on the Baltic Sea the guest can even tee off on a 27-hole Maritim golf course at Maritim Golfpark Ostsee. It belongs to the most challenging courses in the region.

Company History

The Maritim Hotel Company has a good reputation in the hotel sector and is the most well-known of all German hotel chains. The first hotel, the Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand, with its generously planned conference and event area, laid the foundation for Maritim's unique success story. Soon, further hotels were opened on the Baltic coast, followed by resort hotels in the Harz Mountains and Bad Salzuflen. Maritim is represented in spas such as Bad Wildungen and Bad Mergentheim.

Today, a Maritim Hotel can be found in all major German cities from Berlin via Hamburg, Cologne and Frankfurt to Munich. The latest projects are the second Maritim Hotel in Berlin (opened in August 2005), the Maritim Hotel Dresden (opening May 2006) and the Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf (opening November 2007), all of which will offer the largest meeting facilities in their respective region.

Conventions and Events with Maritim

Over the years numerous companies and associations have put their trust in Maritim's conference know-how. Being an experienced specialist in large events, meetings and conferences, the company established itself as an important partner for customers from the world of politics, business and society. Spacious conference halls and perfect organisation by their staff have helped Maritim to become Germany's largest private specialist in meetings and events. In many cases Maritim even offers the largest capacities in the whole region. Some hotels are directly linked to large urban conference centres, as in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bremen, Ulm and shortly also in Dresden. Most of these facilities are also operated by Maritim. Other conference centres are directly integrated into the hotel building. The largest hall of the Maritim Hotel Bonn has room for 2,800 people, while the Maritim Hotel at Düsseldorf Airport will be able to host up to 2,450 people in its largest hall.

In the heart of Berlin Maritim is setting standards with a new hotel opened in August 2005. Large conferences and events with more than 5.800 participants can take place in the elegant new four-star-plus-hotel (505 rooms and suites) right in the government and embassy quarter. The largest hall alone accommodates 3.090 guests.

New Convention Hotels in Dresden and Düsseldorf

"Accommodation and conference facilities under one roof" at top level and with the largest capacities in the area - this will soon be possible also in Dresden and Düsseldorf. On the banks of the river Elbe in Dresden, in direct neighbourhood of the historic city centre, a first class Maritim Hotel with 328 rooms is currently being built. It will open in May 2006. The adjoining International Congress Centre, which has been operated by Maritim since its opening in May 2004, accommodates up to 6,000 people. Maritim is also active at Düsseldorf airport. The new Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf, the first one in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, will be completed there by the end of 2007. The hotel will offer 533 rooms and suites plus conference facilities for up to 5,000 people in two large halls and 21 further conference rooms and meeting suites. It will have direct access to the new terminal building and will thus link the airport with the new Airport City.

Maritim Planning and Building Competence

The company-owned architects, interior architects and engineers company Reinhardt und Sander Gesellschaft mbH Planung und Baubetreuung has been part of the Maritim success story right from the start. Their staff planned and built the vast majority of the existing Maritim Hotels, as well as the convention hotels mentioned above. For any future national and international Maritim projects, this architects office will continue to be available for all design-related and technical support and advice.

International Expansion (Resort Hotels)

In the past three years the company has rapidly begun to expand its international presence. Maritim hotels can now be found in Bali (Maritim Bali Mandira Hotel & Spa on Kuta Beach) and in Turkey (Maritim Pine Beach Resort on the Turkish Riviera). The Pine Beach Resort is also the largest convention hotel in Turkey. In Tunisia the guest can choose from two hotels: the five-star Maritim Hotel Yadis on the beach of Djerba with a 27-hole golf park in the immediate vicinity and the new Maritim Alhambra Thalasspa in Yasmine-Hammamet. All resorts offer extensive wellness and thalasso treatment centres.

The Dubai 1000 hotel fond is planning a four-star-plus-hotel in Dubai with more than 1,000 rooms and a conference hall of approximately 2,000 sqm. The hotel is supposed to be completed in July 2007 and operated by Maritim.

In February 2006 contracts were signed for a new four-star-plus-hotel in Estepona, Spain. The resort, which has 151 suites and apartments, is situated in a subtropical garden and pool area on the sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol and will open its gates in summer 2008. This hotel also offers a professional wellness and beauty centre.

National and International Sales and Marketing

In addition to the company's administrative headquarters in Bad Salzuflen, Maritim Hotels also operate a large central Sales and Reservations Office in Darmstadt near Frankfurt. Almost a hundred sales professionals are employed to look after regular customers and to acquire new business. Maritim also has eight international sales offices. They are located in London, Horgen/Zurich, Utrecht, Paris, Gothenburg, Madrid, Milan and in New York. A further office will be opened in Brussels in 2006.

In a strategic sales and marketing alliance with the internationally operating Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, Maritim is also represented worldwide. This partnership with the 90 Millennium & Copthorne Hotels in Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand creates a worldwide network which ensures that Maritim Hotels are being marketed on all five continents.

Maritim Hotel-Reisedienst GmbH, the in-house tour operator, organises and sells travel arrangements for all Maritim Hotels worldwide and also acts as an IATA travel agency. In all leading Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Galileo/Apollo, Sabre and Worldspan, Maritim is represented and bookable with its own Chain Code "MM".

Maritim can be reached worldwide through its website www.maritim.com. In five languages (German, English, French, Spanish and Japanese) one can find out everything about Maritim and its latest offers and make bookings.
