Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Honors
Al Weiss for Community Leadership.
.
ORLANDO, Fla. (December 15, 2006) At its Annual Gala on Dec. 16, 2006, the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) will present Al Weiss, President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the 2006 Charles Andrew Hospitality Award for Community Leadership.

Each year, the award honors one local leader for their contribution to the areas tourism industry through community service.  The award is named after the founding father of the CFHLA, Charles Andrews, and exemplifies perseverance and dedication to a cause.

Weiss dedication to the Orlando area embodies the spirit and intent of this award, stated CFHLA President Rich Maladecki.  In addition to his superb management of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, his vision and dedication were recently displayed when he worked to build industry consensus to support the penny increase of the Tourist Development Tax in Orange County.  His vigilant dedication to this initiative will revitalize our economy.  This is just one example of the many efforts that made Weiss a natural recipient for this award by the CFHLA Board.
