Guestroom 2010, Featuring 56 Different Technologies, To Be Displayed
at IH/M&RS - November 11-14, 2006, New York City
.

WHITE PLAINS, NY, August 29, 2006Attendees of the upcoming International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS) will step into the future of guestroom technology and amenities, as Guestroom 2010 makes its way to this premier industry event, November 11-14, 2006, at New York Citys Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  The prototype hotel room features the latest and near-future technologies, ranging from extreme innovations such as high-definition artwork that changes to match a guests mood, to the more practical self-cleaning shower.

Guestroom 2010 received an overwhelming response at the 2006 Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) this past June, where it made its debut.  A project of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), Guestroom 2010 features 56 different technologies that were discovered following a worldwide, comprehensive search of existing, cutting-edge and future guestroom innovations.

Guestroom 2010 will generate a great deal of buzz on the show floor, as attendees discover the extraordinary new technologies that are right around the corner, said Christian Falkenberg, show manager.  Educating industry professionals about the latest products and resources continues to be our objective for the IH/M&RS, and Guestroom 2010 will help this effort in a very intriguing way.

Innovations displayed within the guestroom prototype include Ammique - 21st Century Bed, a mattress-less bed featuring a unique set of tension springs that provides a sleeping surface which contours to the natural curves of the body; Guestroom Digital Assistant (GDA-700), an integrated control device that allows guests to control climate, lighting, drapes, the alarm clock, digital radio and the telephone from a touchscreen tabletop console; and Fabric Freshener by Whirlpool®, a portable appliance that relaxes wrinkles and removes odors from clothes that have been packed in a suitcase.

In addition to the technology presented, Guestroom 2010 features a unique living area, based on feedback provided by a group of frequent travelers.  The display is presented with the bathroom at the far end of the guestroom, out of sight to room service personnel and bellmen entering the room.  In response to feedback that travelers prefer natural light in the bathroom to help combat jetlag, the prototype features large bathroom windows with Switchable Privacy Glass technology.

Guestroom 2010 will be on display in Booth 4062 from 10:00 am 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 12, through Monday, November 13, and 10:00 am 4:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14.  It will complement the 200 technology exhibitors featuring their latest innovations, from business center services and check-in kiosks, to high-definition televisions and state-of-the-art security systems.

HFTP is the professional association for financial and technology personnel working in hotels, resorts, clubs, casinos, restaurants and other hospitality-related businesses.  The association provides continuing education and networking opportunities to more than 4,500 members around the world, and produces the premiere hospitality technology show, HITEC.  HFTP also administers the examination and awards the certification for the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) and the Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) designations.

The 91st annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show will run Saturday, November 11, through Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at New York Citys Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  Following a full-day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 11, the IH/M&RS will feature three full days of exhibits from Sunday, November 12, through Tuesday, November 14.  The market presents some 1,250 hospitality industry suppliers and attracts approximately 35,000 in total trade attendance.

The International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show is sponsored by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc., and the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association; and is managed by George Little Management, LLC (GLM®).
