This award was presented at the Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show, held October 30-31 at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. The WIA Innkeeper of the Year Award annually recognizes one individual for outstanding leadership in the Wisconsin lodging industry.

The 2006 Innkeeper of the Year Award was judged by WIA’s Awards Committee based on the following criteria: human resource skills, ongoing WIA involvement, other industry or community involvement, personal and property achievements and leadership ability.

Serving two full terms on the WIA Board of Directors, Drusch was recently nominated by his peers to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the association in 2007.

For his dedication to the hospitality industry, Drusch also earned a special commendation from Governor Jim Doyle.

As president of the Greater Milwaukee Hotel-Motel Association in 2002, Drusch accepted WIA’s “Chapter of the Year” award on its behalf. The Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, Embassy Suites and the state of Wisconsin have also honored him for his service.

The Wisconsin Innkeepers Association (WIA) represents over 1,100 hotels, motels, resorts, inns, hotel condos, and bed & breakfasts throughout Wisconsin. Established in 1896, the WIA provides marketing, education, legislative, and information services to Wisconsin’s lodging industry.
