CORTE MADERA, Calif., Dec. 4, 2006 - Larkspur Hospitality announced today that it has acquired the Monticello Inn in San Francisco, California. The hotel is the company's second downtown San Francisco acquisition this year. In October, Larkspur purchased the nearby Cartwright Hotel. Larkspur acquired the Monticello Inn from Continental Renaissance Partners. "We are thrilled to be acquiring the Monticello Inn, which is a great hotel in what has become a wonderful location, nestled in between Union Square and the new Westfield Centre," said Karl Hoagland, Chairman and CEO, Larkspur Hospitality. "The Monticello has a warm and cozy feeling, generous-sized guest rooms and suites which help provide an atmosphere where guests can feel comfortable and at home while staying with us. The neighborhood is experiencing a renaissance, and we intend to renovate and reposition the Monticello to a four star level, consistent with our other five hotels in the Larkspur Collection." The Monticello Inn (127 Ellis Street) offers visitors a prime San Francisco location, as it is just two blocks from Union Square and is conveniently situated a block away from the Powell Street cable car turnaround and the nearby Theater District. The Monticello Inn was designed using the 18th century home of Thomas Jefferson as its inspiration and offers guests a contemporary colonial themed- style and design. The hotel features 91 guest rooms, including 20 two-room "Jefferson Suites," which were renovated in 2004. All rooms offer complimentary wireless Internet access, writing desks and voicemail. The hotel's library, inspired by Jefferson's passion for literature, provides numerous classic literary works along with a fireplace for guests to enjoy. Each night, guests are invited to attend the complimentary Manager's Wine Reception in the library. Offering both in-room and restaurant dining, the adjacent Puccini and Pinetti Italian Grill serves a wide variety of dishes for lunch and dinner.
