CARLSBAD, CA � July 31, 2006 � La Costa Resort and Spa has appointed
Rianna Riego spa director of its internationally acclaimed Spa at La Costa.
In her position, Riego will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
operations of the 43,000-square-foot spa.
�We are thrilled to welcome Rianna to the La Costa Resort and Spa team,� said April Shute, vice president and general manager of La Costa Resort and Spa. �Her extensive experience in the hospitality and spa management industries and her proven record of leading spas to success make her the perfect candidate for the position.� . The courtyard at the new Spa at La Costa Resort and Spa Prior to her appointment at La Costa, Riego enjoyed eight years in the spa management field at some of the most celebrated resort spas in the country. Most recently, she worked with the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, AZ to develop the concept for the three-story, full service Hashani Spa. Prior to that, she launched the opening of the 13,000-square-foot Spa Esmeralda at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, CA. She subsequently turned Spa Esmeralda into the most profitable spa in the Marriott chain. Riego also worked as a consultant for Marriott Spas in need of pre-opening
and troubleshooting services, served on the advisory committee for Marriott
Spa Design and Operations manuals and trained new spa directors at three
of Marriott�s California-based resorts. Riego began her career in
1984 as assistant public relations manager of the Manila Hilton International
in Manila, Philippines and was promoted to public relations manager of
the hotel in 1986.
