Pegasus Solutions Makes Online Rooms
with a View Affordable

DALLAS (July 5, 2006) — Pegasus Solutions, Inc. today signed an agreement with ICE Portal, Inc. that will allow hotels to easily host, manage and distribute rich media content through the Pegasus Online Distribution Database (ODD) at savings of more than 40 percent. 

The ICE Portal agreement represents another improvement that Pegasus is making to the ODD, aimed at reducing maintenance costs for hotels and assisting them in increasing online reservations. 

Recently Pegasus has announced agreements with Leonardo Media to improve the quality and quantity of the more than 200,000 still images in the ODD and with GIATA mbH to provide a translation service that will allow hotels to promote their properties in additional languages. 

“We know that images and property descriptions are the two most important factors for online travelers looking for a hotel.  With these agreements, we are providing our hotel customers, which use our ODD, the opportunity to upload the kinds of visuals and information that consumers want to see before they book a room,” explained Pegasus chief operating officer Mike Kistner. 

The ODD, which is central to Pegasus’ electronic distribution offerings, contains detailed images, dynamic media and information for more than 65,000 hotel properties, and is accessible by thousands of travel distributors and travel Web sites around the world. A significant redesign of the ODD is currently underway with many significant improvements planned. 

“The redesign will make the Pegasus ODD the industry’s leading repository of hotel content.  Its more structured content formats, improved data accuracy and consistent quality will increase the number and variety of travel channels for our hotel customers,” Kistner added. “It will also be easier to update, giving users the ability to keep their information current.”

Pegasus has completed the specifications for the ODD interface, which uses Open Travel Alliance standards.  The interface will enable hotels to transfer property data in more structured formats to meet online distributor and consumer needs.
