Davidson Hotel Company Names the Hilton Kansas City
Airport Hotel the Companys 2005 Hotel of the Year
.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 31, 2006Davidson Hotel Company, one of the nations largest hotel management companies, today announced that the Hilton Kansas City Airport Hotel recently received two distinct honors.  It was named the companys 2005 Hotel of the Year, and also won the title of Food & Beverage Team of the Year.  It is the second time in four years that the hotel has received the Food & Beverage Team of the Year recognition and is the first time that one hotel has received both awards in a single year. In addition, the hotel was recognized by Hilton Hotels & Resorts as having the highest revenue per available room (REVPAR) growth for an airport hotel in the Hilton Hotel system in 2005.

The hotel completed a $7 million renovation in late 2004, which put the property in pristine condition, said John Belden, Davidson president.  However, completing a renovation is like opening a new hotel, and it takes time to get back up to full operations.  General Manager George Katz and his team did a remarkable job across the board by improving guest satisfaction, maintaining the highest levels of hotel cleanliness and achieving high customer loyalty ratings.

The property exceeded a very aggressive budget in both revenue and profitability.  What makes this award so special is that the competition was especially intense this year.

Belden noted that the hotels food and beverage team played an important role in the hotels award-winning success. Executive Chef Rob Magee and his team have taken on the nearly impossible task of becoming a major force in barbecue in the barbecue capital of the world, he said.  They have won more than 100 awards for their barbecue and now are ranked as one of the top teams in the nation.  The restaurant recent revamped their menu to highlight this unique specialty and guest response has been overwhelmingly positive. Barbecue now is our most popular menu item both in our restaurant and for meetings and conferences.  We believe we this may be the only hotel in the country that focuses so much on barbecue and at such a high level.  Our goal is to build a national reputation for the hotel for barbecue in a city known for great barbecue.

Separately, the Hilton Hotel brand recently recognized the Hilton Kansas City Airports Director of Sales, Lori Haskell, at a national Hilton conference held in Phoenix for achieving the highest improvement in revenue per available room, a key indicator of a hotels operating success.  Our hotels won three of the 19 national awards given by the Hilton brand, Belden noted.  The Hilton Kansas City Airport continues to show significant improvements in its revenues over the prior year, a testament to Lori and her staffs exceptional work.
