May 9, 2006 Atlanta,
GA Wi-Fi hospitality space leader StayOnline is hosting the second annual,
invitation-only North American Wi-Fi Symposium at the Hyatt Coral Gables
in Coral Gables, Florida May 24-26. Top hospitality and technology
executives will gather to discuss and shape the bandwidth needs and future
uses of wirelessly-enabled applications and mobility computing in the hospitality
and travel industry.
Last years first annual symposium in Sandestin drew more than 80 technology innovators and hospitality technology decision makers for presentations on current and future uses of Wi-Fi, applications and infrastructure needed, and blue sky sessions. The event presented by StayOnline represented a coming together of some of the best, most experienced minds in the wireless hospitality arena, said Ron Peterson, Vice President, New Business Development for StayOnline. We are very much looking forward to a continuation of the discussion this year, particularly as it relates to bandwidth consumption. IP-centric programs and devices can and will greatly impact a hotels infrastructure. StayOnlines President and CEO Antonio DiMilia offers his views for the events success: The more devices, programs and games that operate via the Internet, the more that hotels and hospitality properties should be concerned with ensuring that they have the bandwidth and properly configured, flexible network needed to keep their guests seamlessly connected, he said. Last years Wi-Fi Symposium generated an initial discussion in the hospitality industry that needs to be continued. Our customers and technology partners have told us they are eager for an ongoing dialogue, particularly as it relates to appropriate bandwidth. Companies whose representatives will be speaking at the Symposium include AT&T, Cisco, Intel, Divitas, Globestar Systems and SpectraLink. Each will address the increased need for bandwidth over the next two years mandated by wireless-ready devices and how their product or solution will help manage that increase. Weve gone beyond just being able to exchange data on a laptop, said DiMilia. The fast adoption of iPods, gaming devices, VoIP, podcasts and vodcasts means the hospitality industry needs to stay alert to whats here and whats just around the bend and how it impacts infrastructure, cost and guest satisfaction. Cookie cutter networks are not the answer in the complex world blending voice, data, music and video in which we find ourselves today. About StayOnline®
