Brian Dees, Director of Golf at Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas
Named One of Golf Inc.s Most Admired Operators
.
AUSTIN, Texas May 23, 2006 Brian Dees, Director of Golf at Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, has been recognized by Golf Inc. magazine as one of the top 20 Most Admired Operators in 2006. The honorees appear in the May 2006 issue of the publication. This is the second year the Golf Inc. editors have recognized leaders in the golf industry with this honor.

Golf Inc. states, At a time when most golf courses across the nation have struggled to stay profitable, these operators have grown rounds, increased revenue and boosted memberships.  From a list of more than 60 nominees, the final 20 operators are chosen based on qualities of leadership, service, consistent excellence and achievement by golf industry executives and leaders.

Brian Dees oversees all golf operations at Barton Creek Resort & Spa, supervising 75 employees at four championship courses.  A career member of the Barton Creek team, Dees joined the resort in 1991 as part of the member services staff. By August 2002, Dees managed golf operations, assuming day-to-day operations of all four, award-wining Barton Creek golf courses, and he was quickly promoted to Director of Golf in October the same year.

Brians accomplishments at Barton Creek are many, said G. Michael Thomas, President and COO of Barton Creek Resort and Spa. He has played a key role in guiding the development of the Resorts golf courses to their celebrated award-winning status; he was instrumental in the Chuck Cook Golf Academy returning to Barton Creek; and he recently launched a forecaddie program that adds greatly to the overall experience of our members and guests.

The Western Chapter of the Southern Texas Professional Golfers Association (STPGA) recently named Dees Resort Merchandiser of the Year (2005). In 2004, the Resorts Crenshaw Pro Shop acquired the rights to an exclusive display showcasing merchandise for Tag Heuer, Cole Haan and Tiger Woods Nike Apparel; Barton Creek is one of only five golf shops in the world to have this display.

This resort in Austin, Texas features four championship courses Fazio Canyons, Fazio Foothills, Crenshaw Cliffside and Palmer Lakeside that continue to receive national recognition. All four courses have achieved the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation, and Fazio Canyons is the first resort course in Texas to achieve the prestigious certification as an Audubon International Signature Sanctuary after meeting strict environmental criteria. Of the estimated 16,000 golf courses in the United States, only 2,300 are affiliated with the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program and less than 50 courses in the world have achieved the highly coveted Signature status.

Located in Austin, in the heart of the glorious Texas Hill Country, Barton Creek Resort & Spa combines world-class service with its classic brand of Austin casual elegance set in luxurious surroundings.  Featuring 300 beautifully appointed rooms, Barton Creek has something for everyone and offers superior dining experiences, 72 holes of nationally acclaimed championship golf, the industrys finest meeting facilities and a full-service spa, including a unique line of Texas-themed services.  The resort is one of nearly 170 clubs and resorts worldwide owned and operated by Dallas-based ClubCorp, which was founded in 1957 and has approximately $1.5 billion in assets.
