Woodlands (Houston), Texas, June 23, 2006 - Benchmark Hospitality International
has appointed Marcia Abel as director of human resources for The Northland
Inn, located near Minneapolis, Minnesota. Charles Nehme, general
manager, made the announcement.
"It is my great pleasure to welcome Marcia to The Northland Inn, said Mr. Nehme. "She brings significant experience in our market and in the industry to her new role and we look forward to her leadership in the human resources function at the hotel." Ms. Abel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in human resources to her new role. She has a strong decade-long background in employee training in customer service, safety and successful management skills, and is bilingual. Abel was previously director of operational support for the Doubletree Guest Suites of Minneapolis. She also served for six years at the property as director of human resources. Prior to joining the hospitality industry, Ms. Abel held positions of increasing responsibility within the apparel industry. Marcia Abel is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts. She is an active member of the Twin Cities Hospitality Personnel Association and has served as the organization's treasurer. Ms. Abel is a founding member, past president and former board member of Friends of FANA - Minnesota, an organization of adoptive families. She and her family reside in New Brighten, Minnesota.
