Journeys End Resort in Belize Repositions Itself with $2 million Renovation
.

Amberguis Caye, Belize, (June 26, 2006) Journeys End Resort, situated on the edge of the second largest barrier reef in the world and just three and a half miles from the bustling town of San Pedro, has repositioned itself as Belizes foremost upscale resort, offering visitors an exotic Island retreat they will not forget.

The property has completed a makeover that paid close attention to the smallest of details inside and out. Each of its 48 lodging units, including a mixture of private ocean front, pool and garden cabanas, hotel rooms, suites and a 1,000 square-foot three bedroom villa, has been redesigned to have a rustic yet luxurious Caribbean look and feel.

Handmade furniture consisting of attractive rich woods and Ethnic hand carved wall art fill each room. Guests can relax in four-poster mahogany beds that have been hand crafted with elegant and intricate detail. Continuing the luxurious theme, the beds are decorated with beautiful, delicate veiling and are dressed with 400-thread-count sheets. Each accommodation features a large private bathroom complete with a deco walk in shower and Egyptian cotton towels. Free Wi-Fi is accessible in all rooms. Eye-catching views of the Caribbean Sea, pool, gardens and Laguna de Mata with wildlife and vegetation accompany the various lodging choices.

We are very excited about the new direction Journeys End has taken, said Carolina Aguilar, director of sales and marketing for the resort. The renovations have considerably improved the quality of the resort and have created a relaxing retreat that appeals to the upscale traveler. We also paid special attention to taking care of the environment and stayed true to our resorts Green Policy throughout the renovations. The resort, which has been a member of Green Hotels and Resorts for seven years, strives to protect and preserve the earth by using biodegradable products as well as water and energy conservation methods.

Guests of Journeys End Resort have other luxury amenities to enjoy during their stay. The stylish and elegant Luna restaurant features a relaxed atmosphere with spectacular ocean views and a three-meal menu with a mix of Central American and Caribbean cuisine, along with an exceptional selection of wines. The resorts martini-cigar bar, La Habana, is the only of its kind in Belize and offers a variety of martinis, rums, cognacs, ports and fine Cuban cigars, while the Smiling Toucan provides snacks, American fare and tropical concoctions.

A new, full service Serenity Spa provides a soothing retreat for visitors. In a picturesque setting overlooking the resorts lagoon, the spa offers a menu complete with a variety of treatments for relaxation and rejuvenation, including invigorating deep body exfoliation, soothing and detoxifying body wraps, aromatherapy massage and facials, couples massage, Reiki energy work, manicures, pedicures and more. Custom spa packages can be arranged.

Additional amenities include a beautiful fresh water swimming pool and an 1,800 square foot conference center on the beach.

Located off the beaten path on the private island of Ambergris Caye and with over 50 acres of beachfront property, Journeys End Resort is surrounded by endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Just a quarter of a mile off shore sits the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, which provides for some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world. Journeys End Resort is Belizes only PADI 5-Star Gold Palm dive facility and because its located north of San Pedro in an isolated area, it has the benefit of less visited sights. Just behind the property, guests can take a lagoon kayak tour, where they will be on the lookout for crocodiles, a variety of fish and unusual birds, as well as orchids and other beautiful flora. Also available are bicycle rentals, rainforest and jungle cruises, underground cave tubing, zip lining, world-class fly fishing, access to the famous Blue Hole dive site, and a variety of tours to the Maya Ruins including visits to Tikal, Altun Ha, Lamanai and Xunatunich. Journeys End Resort provides complimentary use of catamarans, kayaks, Hobie Cats, canoes and tennis courts and will assist in booking tours with convenient departure right from its docks. VIP services are also available.

Journeys End Resort resides 30 miles from the mainland of Belize, which is two hours via jet from Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Newark and Miami and is a convenient and enjoyable getaway perfect for couples, families and groups alike.
