(Whistler, BC) June 21, 2006 -  --- Steve Halliday, Vice Chairman of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, North America and General Manager of Pan Pacific Vancouver, recently announced the appointment of James (Jim) Edward Douglas as the new General Manager for Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside and Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre.

Jim is replacing Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts veteran Tim Morrison, who will evolve his 19-year hospitality career working with the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Committee as Program Director Whistler Villages for the 2010 Winter Olympics.  In addition to his General Manager assignment at Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside, Tim was also responsible for opening the highly regarded Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre last year.  Tim's career with Pan Pacific started at the Five Diamond Vancouver property where he was most recently Director of Food & Beverage.

Jim has an eighteen-year history in the British Columbia hospitality industry, specifically focused on financial and operational management as well as food & beverage.  Most recently, he was the General Manager for Northern British Columbia's most visible property, The Coast Inn of the North.  Additionally, his hotel background includes management experience in a number of British Columbia Coast Hotels in Vancouver Island and the Interior of British Columbia.  Jim's experience in food & beverage operations comes from his many positions in several well-known British Columbia hotels and independent restaurants.

"With his vast background in the local British Columbia hospitality industry, we look forward to welcoming Jim's expertise in maintaining and growing the visibility and high operational standards at both our Pan Pacific properties in Whistler," comments Halliday.  "His commitment to quality and knowledge in providing a unique guest experience will contribute to the overall satisfaction of customers as well as our associates at the two properties."

Effective July 15, 2006, Jim will join the Pan Pacific team of associates.  He can be reached at (604) 905-2999 or [email protected], Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside, 4320 Sundial Crescent, Whistler, BC, V0N 1B4.
