June 14, 2006 - New products, new ideas and new inspiration will highlight the 2006 International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), the premier hospitality event connecting more than 35,000 industry professionals from around the world with 1,400 trend-setting exhibitors. Taking place November 11-14, 2006, at New York City�s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the 91st annual edition will offer new and exciting resources for hospitality designers and hotel owners and operators, as well as expanded opportunities for foodservice buyers through cross market access to All Asia Food Expo, Expo Comida Latina and Kosherfest.

THE MARKET

Reflecting the strengthening industry trend towards luxury experiences, hospitality designers will find fresh resources and preview up-and-coming trends at the 2006 IH/M&RS. Design highlights include an enhanced Luxury Product Collection, and an all-new �Gold Key Supplier Showcase� of furniture, fixtures and equipment resources from 2006 Gold Key Awards finalist properties. 

Collocations with three foodservice shows will complement the more than 600 culinary exhibitors found at the IH/M&RS, presenting a wide array of specialty food products and equipment. All Asia Food Expo, Expo Comida Latina and Kosherfest, presented by Diversified Business Communications, will add to these resources with a combined 600 exhibitors and 12,000 attendees, bringing the overall market experience to 2,000 exhibitors and 47,000 attendees. The IH/M&RS and Diversified Business Communications will offer reciprocal access for increased opportunities and additional resources for all participants. Attendees will discover new exhibitors and therefore new resources across all categories of the IH/M&RS, including Bellino Fine Linens, Lambert, Habidecor and Julian Nyland Designer Furnishings within the extravagant Luxury Product Collection; Hotel Solutions, GATT Communications and Allied Security within the growing technology sector; and Electrolux Professional, Gibson Overseas and Wolfgang Puck Coffee within the diverse foodservice sector.

MARKET HIGHLIGHTS

Educational Programs
The 2006 educational platform will feature approximately 40 sessions for lodging and foodservice professionals, addressing such topics as leadership skills, evolving hotel technology, risk management, responding to trends, foodservice equipment and success as a restaurateur. Of note, several sessions focused on hospitality design will highlight the seminar lineup, complementing the enhanced design focus on the Show floor. Educational sessions will begin with the Hospitality Leadership Forum, a full-day conference held on Saturday, November 11, 2006, followed by additional programs and culinary demonstrations scheduled throughout Sunday, November 12, 2006, and Monday, November 13, 2006. Salon of Culinary Art
Back by popular demand, the 138th annual Salon of Culinary Art will feature live cooking demonstrations and competitions in a variety of culinary skills, as well as more than 300 static �food as art� displays. Presented by the Société Culinaire Philanthropique, the Salon features Master Chefs, Pastry Chefs, Bakers, Butchers, Culinarians and Apprentices from around the world competing in a multitude of categories. The exhibit showcases fancy buffet tables, decorated fish and poultry, pastry work and other creatively prepared foods. The Salon of Culinary Art will be open to the public from Sunday, November 12, though Tuesday, November 14, 2006. 

Demonstration Kitchen
The IH/M&RS Demonstration Kitchen will feature pastry and traditional cooking techniques and tasting, on Sunday, November 12, 2006, and Monday, November 13, 2006. The Société Culinaire Philanthropique will present two pastry demonstrations, and Food Arts magazine will provide instruction on beef and pork cooking. Participation by chefs representing the ICA-ACF Big Apple Chapter will round out the demonstration schedule. 

AWARDS
Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design
The 26th annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design will be presented in eight categories � Restaurants/Casual Dining, Restaurants/Fine Dining, Lounge/Bar, Best Hotel Design, Guest Room, Suites, Lobby/Reception Area and Spa. In addition, Gold Key Awards sponsors Interior Design and HOTELS magazines will present the �Designer of the Year� Award, and NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network will present its �Icon of the Industry� distinction. Grand prize winners and finalists will be honored at the IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards Breakfast Ceremony at New York City�s Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Monday, November 13, 2006, from 7:30 � 9:30 am. The event serves as a scholarship fundraiser for NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network. Gold Key Awards entries must be submitted by July 1, 2006. Breakfast Ceremony tickets are $75.00 each, and available online at www.ihmrs.com/goldkey.

Editors� Choice Awards
The 11th annual Editors� Choice Awards, spotlighting the best new products at the Show, will be presented in six categories � décor, essentials, flavors, luxury, restaurant and technology, as well as the �Kenneth F. Hine Best of Show� Award. Editors from the top hospitality and culinary trade publications will review submissions and select outstanding new products based on innovative product design, how a product answers a particular industry need, creative use of material or construction, and development or use of a new technology. Winners will be announced during the Opening Ceremony, on Sunday, November 12, 2006. 

SPECIAL EVENTS

Networking activities and special events will round out the market experience, including the 91st annual International Hospitality Ball, on Saturday, November 11, 2006, and Late Night with IH/M&RS at BB King�s, on Sunday, November 12, 2006. In addition, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) will present its annual Fall Conference in conjunction with the IH/M&RS, creating additional networking opportunities for lodging professionals. The annual Inaugural Gala Reception & Dinner, on Sunday, November 12, 2006, will be among Conference highlights.
