Hotel Concepts to Reveal Smart Client Enterprise
Solution at HITEC 2006
Booth # 1041
ATLANTA JUNE 13, 2006 Hotel Concepts, a leading global provider of property management/CRS technology and software solutions for the hospitality industry, is set to reveal its latest Hospitality Enterprise Solution at HITEC 2006. The new range of products consists of CRS, PMS and CRM modules, all of which will be in full release before the end of 2006. The PMS module will be on display in the Hotel Concepts booth #1041 at HITEC, which takes place June 19-22 in Minneapolis. This Smart Client development concept is the first of its kind in the hospitality industry. Utilizing a .net 2.0 framework, it is the next step up from web-based applications, and is the ideal solution for centrally distributed environments.

Web based applications with rich functionality are typically tedious to develop, hard to maintain and deliver a limited user interface. Rich clients, like in client-server applications, offer a feature rich and responsive user interface but need additional distribution hardware and software to run as a central system. The solution to all of these issues comes with the Smart Client design. This multi tiered environment consists of a powerful central database running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 in a fail-safe environment, a high performance web service running on a cluster of web servers and finally the Smart Client application.

The Smart Client is a self-installing program, downloadable through a web link that manages everything it needs, like DLLs and sub programs, in a separate space. On every application start, the Smart Client will connect to the server and check if newer versions have been made available. Current versions are automatically updated if needed. Because the program runs on the local system, the user experience is very similar to other Windows applications.

Data processing and business logic are both managed by the Web Service, and only requests and result sets are communicated between the Web Service and Smart Client, keeping bandwidth requirements at low levels. The Web Service uses the SOAP protocol and is open to integrate with other Web Service Applications. Managing hotel distribution is key in the application, and both the CRS and PMS offer a distribution channel manager. GDS integration is available through Hotel Concepts' distribution partners or directly to the GDS systems with a Next Generation Seamless interface. In order to further lower the cost-of-ownership, Hotel Concepts offers managed application hosting in the United States, Europe, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific.
