Construction of New Skokie Convention and Banquet Center Begins
.

Skokie, Illinois March 7, 2006 it was announced today by Lakhani Hospitality, Inc. that the much anticipated expansion to the Holiday Inn Chicago/Skokie at 5300 W. Touhy Avenue will begin on Wednesday, March 15, 2006. The 11,000 sq. ft addition will bring the total contiguous meeting space to 11,000 and total meeting space to more than 14,000 sq. ft.

We are very excited to bring this facility to Skokie said Mansoorali Lakhani, owner of the hotel and President and C.E.O. of Lakhani Hospitality, Inc. Mr. Lakhani purchased the 244 room Skokie hotel in 2004 with plans to modernize and expand. Later that year the former Edens Tennis Club at 7234 N. Laramie Avenue was purchased to provide additional land for parking. We have invested about $3M in the past year and plan to spend $10M on this expansion said Sheila Gilani, Director of Operations for Lakhani Hospitality.

Current plans call for the state-of-the-art facility to seat about 1,000 people for a banquet and upwards of 1,200 for receptions and shows. The main ballroom will be divisible into eight (8) smaller rooms and will be decorated in warm tones and a variety of surfaces. The pre-function space will feature a sweeping staircase leading to a pair of bridal suites.

Plans call for the existing porte-cochere to be extended to include the new ballroom, the total resurfacing of the existing parking areas and the addition of a new parking lot accessible from Laramie Avenue. We are currently re-engineering our existing kitchen and laundry to accommodate the new facility said Paul Leisner, General Manager Our entire team has been involved in the process, working hard to plan every detail.
