72 room Hotel Renamed Ocean Tower Hotel at Waikiki Beach |
HONOLULU, Hawaii - January 16, 2006 - Mike Paulin, owner and CEO of Aqua Hotels & Resorts, announced today that Aqua has signed a contract to manage the former "Mauka Tower" of the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel. The property was recently purchased by Z Tower, LLC - a Hawaii-based investment group affiliated with real estate ventures in California, Nevada and Arizona. The property is scheduled for complete renovation with the intent to transform it into a chic boutique hotel. Renamed Ocean Tower Hotel at Waikiki Beach, the 72-unit property is located at 129 Paokalani Street, next to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and half a block from Waikiki Beach. It is in easy walking distance to Kapiolani Park, Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. "The property will be renovated in a style to become Waikiki's premier boutique hotel offering," said Mike Paulin. "As part of the renovation, the seven pillars of the Aqua brand will be integrated including spa, fitness facility, free high-speed internet, and complimentary continental breakfast." The property will remain open during the transformation with Terry Dowsett overseeing hotel management duties. Rates for 2006 range from $160 per night for city view rooms to $190 per night for premium ocean view rooms. With this addition, Aqua's inventory in Waikiki increases to six properties, including the Aqua Palms, Aqua Bamboo & Spa, Aqua Aloha Surf, Aqua Marina and Aqua Kuhio Village.
