NEW YORK January 26, 2006 - A four-time GM with resort experience, Jerry Gibson brings new energy to the city life by joining the Grand Hyatt New York as General Manager. Previously General Manager of Hyatt Lake Las Vegas in Nevada, Mr. Gibson arrives with 25 years of Hyatt experience to oversee the recently renovated 1,311-room property.

Mr. Gibsons interest in hospitality began at an early age as he traveled working cases with F. Lee Bailey. After working on many speaking engagements in hotels, Mr. Gibson was drawn to the hospitality industry and began his career with Host Marriott after graduating college. After becoming the youngest General Manager in the company, he made his move to the Hyatt Corporation.

Beginning in 1980, Mr. Gibson joined Hyatt Regency Maui, at the time a new concept resort, as an Assistant Banquet Manager.  He became an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Hyatt Regency Waikiki, and in 1988 was promoted to Food and Beverage Director at Hyatt Regency Monterey.  In 1990, he moved back to Hawaii where he opened Hyatt Regency Waikoloa and Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa as Food & Beverage Director. During his time at Kauai, Mr. Gibson worked on further developing the newly hot spa concept. He led the $4 million renovation of the existing spa, to create Spa ANARA. This world-renowned spa was a first for Hyatt and kept with the resorts emphasis on Hawaiis rich culture, offering a series of therapies based on traditional native Hawaiian healing practices. In May of 1992, he was promoted to Hawaii Regional Food & Beverage Director for Hyatt Resorts where he oversaw the daily food and beverage operations in Waikiki and on Maui and Kauai.

His first promotion to the position of General Manager was in 1995 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio.  In November 1997, he was promoted to General Manager of Hyatt Regency Chicago, Hyatts flagship property, with 2,019 guestrooms and 1800 employees. He then served four years as General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort and Spa before transferring to Hyatt Lake Las Vegas in 2004.

In 2002, Jerry was chosen as General Manager of the Year for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts nationwide, earning him a distinctive honor for which 12 other Hyatt General Managers were nominated. An active member of the Kauai community, Jerry served as president of the State and local branches of the Hawaii Hotel Association. He was a member of the Founding Board of Directors for the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative and was instrumental in the development and eventual funding for KIUC. He also held the position of Director for the Kauai Visitors Bureau and was President of the Poipu Beach Resort Association.

Mr. Gibson is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a degree in business administration and resides in New York City.
