Management Company for The Inn at Harvard, Owned by Harvard University |
Cambridge, MA (February 27, 2006) - With its customized approach to guest service and unique property culture, Collegiate Hospitality, LLC, marks its first successful year as the hospitality management service company for The Inn at Harvard, owned by Harvard University and located on its Cambridge campus. Founded in January 2005 by long time hospitality professional Richard Carbone, Collegiate Hospitality was awarded the contract to operate the Inn at Harvard, following a bid process conducted by the University. Having opened The Inn at Harvard in 1991 as general manager, Carbone has continually run the property for more than 15 years. His desk and office, situated in plain view in the lobby is the cornerstone of his high-touch management style and emblematic of Collegiate Hospitality's core belief that a hotel general manager or innkeeper, as Carbone prefers to be called, should be readily available and within easy reach of both property staff and guests. "We believe that a general manager should spend a minimum of 75% of his/her time in contact with guests and staff. Our company culture empowers each staff member to take personal responsibility in their day-to-day duties, put words into action and work as a team to fully optimize guest service," said Richard Carbone, CEO, Collegiate Hospitality, LLC and innkeeper at The Inn at Harvard. "Our unique approach is a departure from the more traditional structure where the GM manages from behind the scenes." With a 3% increase in revenues over 2004 and favorable projections for 2006, The Inn at Harvard is set to undergo a two million dollar guestroom renovation this March. An intimate old-world inn designed by renowned architect Graham Gund,
the property offers 112 elegantly appointed guestrooms, including a lavish
Presidential Suite favored by dignitaries associated with the University.
