Employees in Cancun and Cozumel |
Palma de Mallorca, Spain - November 4, 2005 - Sol Meliá has
announced that it guarantees their employees in Cancun and Cozumel (Mexico)
will retain their jobs. Last week the hotel chain announced that
their properties had suffered damages due to Hurricane Wilma and would
remain closed until further assessment of these damages.

The Company recognizes the selflessness, professionalism and hard work of their staff in the affected properties and the attention and care they have given their clients as they placed their guests� safety ahead of their own. In addition, Sol Meliá has put their "Social Action Plan" in place to obtain funds directed to help with the losses incurred by its staff in the region. Among other actions, the Company will use its Solidarity Fund to donate one Euro for every reservation made through Solmelia.com. It will also allow its MaS members (the company�s frequent guest program) to donate their points to the fund. The company�s headquarters in Palma de Mallorca, Spain is organizing a Solidarity Day where they will auction off drawings made by the children of the employees, as well as raffles, a toy drive and more. Also, all the hotels and corporate offices will have a donation box available to gather funds for the cause.
